LightSpeed 2 point of sale system released

Following a public beta test first announced in February, Xsilva Systems on Wednesday announced the release of LightSpeed 2.0, a major update to its Mac OS X-based Point of Sale (POS) system. LightSpeed starts at $749.

LightSpeed combines retail, back office and optional Web sales site capabilities together under one banner, integrating with a multi-user OpenBase SQL database designed for scalability.

The software touts an easy to use, iTunes-style interface and administration and reporting functionality built in. You can generate quotes and invoices, manage credit card processing, gift card processing, handle service repairs, browse and track sales, manage purchasing and inventory, take care of jobs and time sheets, manage accounts receivables and more.

LightSpeed 1 users with a current Subscription plan can download and install this new release for free.

Before I got in porn, I knew of at least two "lightspeed" products... once of them was a wireless system for checking the milage, fuel level, and other parameters of a rental car... that would have been probably 1995 or so.
