I thought cellphones were killing off honey bees.

I could have sworn I read that somewhere recently, but you sure couldn't prove that at my house.

I can't believe how many are hanging out by the tree right outside my front door.

Guess I will have to get the gardener to trim the hell out of it next time he comes here.

I actually saw a segment on the news today about that. Cell phone frequencies are throwing the bees off because our atmosphere is becoming so oversaturated with them that they cant find their way. Bees rely on normal atmospheric frequency for sense of direction. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong.

yeah..there is something up with the bees for sure this year.

i hear we have an infestation of a tiny mite...that sucks them dy of bodily fluids as it just sits there on them.

Also the cell phone thing might explain why so many beehives are going empty...not even dead bodies in there..just all the bees gone.

How many you got? We had a hive make a pitstop on one of our trees last year. They stayed there for a full day and night, called a beekeeper who was going to come out and remove them the next day, but that morning they were gone. Whole small tree was just covered.

Well, not enough to warrant a beekeeper, but they seem to be attracting wasps which worry me even more, primarily because they get in the house and my dog likes chasing them.

I thought he was going to pull the drapes down yesterday.

Whoops - I linked to another forum (snopes)

Here is an excerpt:

A lot of you have probably been hearing the 'buzz' about the disappearing bees. Almost every news story prints a quote attributed to Albert Einstein. The quote goes: "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left."

I was reading DailyKos and some commenter said that Einstein did not make that quote which I'm inclined to believe. So I googled the phrase and couldn't find anything to say where it came from. I searched google groups and couldn't find any post before 2002. Since Usenet groups go way back I figured someone would have quoted it before 2002. Here is a link to the oldest story I could find with the quote:

http://www.cyberbee.net/news/mites.htm

Does anyone know if Einstein actually said this (I don't think he did) or who actually first said this? I can guess why someone would falsely attribute the quote to Einstein. Because it would carry more weight.

I did find one quote that I think can be reasonably attributed to him about bees http://www.monthlyreview.org/598einst.htm:

"It is evident, therefore, that the dependence of the individual upon society is a fact of nature which cannot be abolished—just as in the case of ants and bees."

Google "Einstein bees" and you'll see it.

Its believed cell phones are one of the possible causes for the decline in bee population. The other, is pesticides.

If I remember correctly, the Einstein 4 year thing is a mis-quote. Roughly, he said that if the bees were to die off, life as we know it change dramatically.

About 1/4 of the worlds food supply is dependent on the bees pollination.

Birds also rely on the same atmospheric frequencies as bees as well as the earths natural magnetism. So when birds start disappearing or falling out of the sky, then we should all REALLY start to worry. Wow, these random convos are a great time killer!

I think what is killing the bees with regards to cellphones is all of the hidden charges and the general confusion about how their plans actually work.

I would say it probably has more to do with the phenomena we're experiencing with our own sun. The same thing happened but less intense in 1957 I beleive. The disruption in the magnetic fields may be causing them to "fly into the light" or something of that effect, dying and being blown away in the wind which would explain the lack of the bodies. *shrug*
