I was in Pleasanton when that happened. We were at work and all flew out the back exit - the worst thing we could have done! There was all kinds of stuff falling from the one story building we were in, and next door there was a three story tall building being tossed around. Scary shit!

A friend of mine was in the pottery business at the time, with a shop in Santa Cruz. He was at work with all the ovens going, preparing for an upcoming show. His description of events would have been pretty funny if not so scary.
What he came home to wasn't much better.
I had been on the phone with another friend that was in Novato at the time, and we had just hung up when the quake hit.
He said he walked outside and the parking lot was rolling around.
I was down here in LA, working for the phone company and was at work. I worked in the central office when all of a sudden everything got very silent, then the alarms started going off.
Made for an interesting evening.
