Hard to explain or not, please try, because in all of my life I have not had a definitive explanation of what constitutes being a Jew. Every Jew (those of the Jewish faith) I have asked has provided a different explanation.

Being a jew is a Culture and a heritage...100 years ago all the jews were religous...and no matter where jews lived they were jews...not German,Italian,Spanish...jews...so it's a heritage

Without being an expert on this subject, I think that only those of the Jewish faith think that if your mother was a Jew then you are born a Jew.

I think that being Jewish is faith based and not race based.

I cant even imagaine what it would be like to be a Jew in Isreal or a Arab in Palenstine.
