Is it just me or are car manufacturers all clamouring to make rolls royce priced cars lately? Guess they realized luxury ain't luxury no more and there's enough people out there with the cash for these things now

700 horsepower and 657 lb.ft of torque for $510,000?!?!?!
Who the fuck are they kidding?

I can get more power than that from a Chevy 502 for under $20k, stick it in a POS 3rd generation F-body and kick that thing's ass.

And that RUF is an amazing car. Knowing RUF they will only make a handful of them and you won't even get close to touching one for that price.

The design is getting very futuristic, but I like what they did with the Cayman.
I'd have no problems making room for one in my garage.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that everyone thought it was based off a CAyman but it was actualy based off of a 911... Not 100% sure tho I will try and find the article.

I tend to agree with you. When I first saw this a few weeks ago,I saw all 911 from the front view and all Cayman from the side. The pics in this thread are better than the ones I orginally saw and it does look a lot more like a 911 now. RUF is not saying on their site.

But can you do it in an engine less than half the displacement of a 502? Then can you make it reliable. Can you make it to go around a curve faster than anything else street legal? Now lets talk about braking.
RUF builds cars that will run with anything ever built and their cars will do it for 100k + miles.
It's a lot of money for a car if you have to think about it. If you want the best then it's a bargain at any price.

At $510,000, I can rebuild that 502 about 50 times.

But let's put the price of my car up to $100,000. With a budget of $100,000 I can take a brand new Z06 and modify it enough to outhandle, outbreak, and out accelerate that RUF, getting about the same gas mileage, and still have $400k to put in the bank.

You make it sound very simple. I'll be watching for the review of the first schneemann 502.

It is very simple. I can - and have - put an engine together and in a car in an afternoon with only one person helping me.

if you want to take it to the tight track where it really counts, a $7500 shifterkart will emabarass the fuck out of that car.

Sure its nice... but it cant really compete with a real racing machine (for far less money) and you cant drive it to its potential on the streets. So pretty much all its good for is showing off that you've spent a total fuckload of money just because you can.
