I can't believe I forgot one of the best movies of the '80's
The River's Edge.... |
i hate those fucking dumb teen comedy things like 'scary movie'.
please bitch, please. casino, full metal jacket, natural born killers, goodfellas, matrix, etc, you know the sort of thing... |
Kes is one of the greatest movies ever made.
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0064541 Also known as "A Kestrel for a Knave". |
I forgot Caddyshack.
|
Some that I didn't see on the list:
Traffic Heat Natural Born Killers Ronin Blow Siberia (Low Budget) Snatch (mentioned before but deserves to be mentioned again) Matrix (Has to be on the list wether you like it or not) Free Willy :Graucho DynaMite |
I didn't see anybody mention Das Boot yet, probably my all time favorite.. Every time you watch some horrible american submarine film (like the one Bon Jovi was in, I forget the title) and the boat is all busted up and sinking "200..210..220 captain!..230..240 krrk krrk!" it's always a poor imitation of the Das Boot scenes. Get the directors cut dvd.
Saw some people mention Leon/The Professional (?) - perhaps some of you missed Nikita by the same guy, Luc Besson.. Excellent film, and I'm not talking about the awful hollywood version here. "Leon" (Jean Reno) has a great part in this one too. |
Henry.

Lots of great movies..
I just wanted to add the top Akira Kurosawa movies Shichinin no samurai (1954) ... aka Magnificent Seven, The (1954) ... aka Seven Samurai (1954) (UK) ... aka Seven Samurai, The (1956) (USA) The classic movie about mercenaries who are hired to defend a village from bandits. Ikiru (1952) ... aka Doomed (1952) ... aka Living (1952) (International: English title) ... aka To Live (1952) (International: English title) Awesome movie about a byrocrate who becomes fatally ill and wants to try REAL life before he dies. He tries drinking, partying, whores but finds satisfaction somewhere else - before he dies. A must see. Dersu Uzala (1974) ... aka Derusu Uzara (1974) (Japan) My personal favorite. A great movie about the relationship of human and nature. A Chinese lonely explorer helps a small group of soldiers to do some research in SIberia-- to do some research, or actually , just survive. Masterpieces.. I just doubt if you can find them in your local videostore |
