Torrent sites distributing copyrighted content without permission is illegal. If they just distributed rips it would be one thing (and still illegal), but most of the "seeders" remove copyright notices... That would be oh... $25,000 per offense or so :P

Idiot. Napster had nothing to do with torrents [you're only wrong by about 5 years], and BitTorrent itself is a 100% legal program. Get with the fucking picture.

Torrent sites do not distribute copyrighted content. Individual users do.

judging by the views alot of people care :winkwink:

And i dont think lensman OR the HEFSTER will sit idly by while their content is being stolen so blatantly.

The problem is pretty simple.. i am a salesman for lensman, im seling his product . I cant sell his product is its being given away for free.

If he doesnt have a problem with it, then neither do i.

C'mon smokey, this is very 2003, even for you :|

in 2003 there werent full versions of almost every paysite available to download..

In 2003 people shared what they got. the torrent scene is much different now. These people arent sharing. someone goes about stealing content for the SOLE purpose of advertising non-competing products ( i.e. dating )

in 2003 i wasnt competing with torrent on the se's

Kard63 04-17-2007 09:15 AM

they are probably putting some stuff out there on torrents on purpose.

No they don't.

BitTorrent is just a peer-to-peer communications protocol for file sharing. What the users share is not the site's problem.

I'm not defending it. I just saying that you are all idiots.

You all whine on message boards (just for the sake of whining, because no one has a clear understanding of the problem) and no one would actually lift a finger to do anything about it.

While all you idiots who make $300 a month whine and moan, real "industry" players don't give a shit and are laughing all the way to the bank.

LOL classic vvq. never make anything public. everything should be kept quiet, yeah not saying anything will fix the problem.... :upsidedow

Will my boy. Read what I said.

There is no need for a public parade. It only gives snakes more ideas. I've said the same thing about Zango a million times.

You out them on a public forum and they have time to remove the content, change sponsors, etc. It seems to me you guys are all after temporary solutions (sponsor removal) rather than a longterm solution (suing the fuck out of them/getting them off the internet). Contact a lawyer and see what he tells you. His advice surely won't be to start threads on public forums giving the offender the chance to remove your content before the crime has even been documented.

If you are not the content owner you should contact the content owner PRIVATELY so they can take legal action accordingly. I know it's fun to call out these little love triangles on GFY and you probably will get a faster response, but it does little to actually bring down the torrent sites or harm the people running them. AFF drops them, there are others that will slide in. I'm sure the cost of running those sites is minimal. One lost AFF check isn't gonna stop them.

Just my opinion. We do own content, and I'm telling you we would rather be told about theft and criminal activity involving our content privately.

NTM 04-17-2007 09:44 AM

Organizations like MPAA and RIAA have been battling torrent sites with very little success. What makes you think losers like you will make a difference? :1orglaugh

So yeah, keep making these idiotic threads, maybe someone will buy your sig next month.

Actually, without the site acting as a tracker you wouldn't be able to share shit using the BitTorrent protocol. At least not yet, anyway. You need to upload a torrent to a tracker, then seed the file for others to download. No uploaded torrent, no peer-to-peer filesharing. So yes, torrent sites are facilitating the illegal sharing of copyrighted material, whatever it may be.

I agree with your points Smokey but this is where you are wrong. Most countries dont give a shit about the DMCA.Thatīs the problem. If you donīt believe me just look at the pirates bay. They even post the complaint letters they get on their site and make fun of them.
And there are legal BT sites (linux ISO sites for one.)

But you are right, this situation really sucks. We could spend all day arguing about the legality of it but at the end of the day we are all getting fucked here and if you cannot see it then you will when it hits you where it counts: your pockets.

vvq 04-17-2007 10:31 AM

the bittorrent protocol itself isn't illegal. i've seen it used properly many times. for example blizzard used it to facilitate patches and upgrades for their world of warcraft software. it is used properly with intended purpose by many companies. don't bash the protocol. it wasn't purposely designed to be used for the distribution of stolen content.

I'm personally not bashing it. I'm bashing the sites that facilitate content theft and illegal spreading of stolen material. :)

google does and thats where 90% of it is being found i would say ..

When you type in bria brenner you dont even have to finish typing before google suggests "bria brenner torrents"

people who have no idea about what a torrent is suddenly do :) without google the problem is much smaller right off the bat. enforce the dmca's on google and the affiliates will make money instead of AFF

tranza 04-17-2007 12:45 PM

As I said before, I'd approve if AFF was banned for good from GFY.

They are hurting the adult business as a whole.

jpeg is just a picture format, but having cp jpegs on your hd is illegal.
HTTP is just a protocol, but hosting cp pics is illegal.
thunderbird is just an emailclient, but mailing cp pics to someone is illegal.

bittorrent is just a p2p protocol, but spreading stolen content IS illegal... profiting from this IS illegal... facilitating this IS illegal...

or start shitloads of fake torrent sites... sites that look like torrent sites, but have no real downloads... just tons of popups... fill the "torrent" serps with those and people will quickly start to associate "torrent" with popups, no real content,...
