It varies project by project but often I do just what you said. However, I retain net rights on everything I shoot so I do not sell to brokers who will sell it for net use. Then I take some of that money to fund my own movies that get distributed worldwide (along with cable, VOD, PPV, etc.). I never use money out of my own pocket for anything. My hetro movies sell very well but my tranny and gay movies are the real bread winners. Truth be told, I'm shooting less hetro these days and more TS and gay because that is where the real money is. Gay especially. Gay movies will wholesale at sometimes TRIPLE what hetro movies sell for. I plan to be totally done with hetro by the end of this year, and focus totally on gay and TS. Doesn't make much sense to have to shoot 2 or 3 hetro movies to make the same money ONE gay or TS will make. Of course I am speaking about my own product and not just selling scenes to clients for fast cash. And did I mention if these girls had cocks or not? |

What makes my job tough? Anyone can point a camera at a naked girl and take a picture, takes skill to lift it from a picture of naked to a porno picture. Yours are pictures of girls sucking cocks. What they lack is the bit of magic that makes the viewer think the girl is theirs for free and will do it for her pleasure. That's the porn fantasy, we all know we can pay for it. http://www.paulmarkham.com/temp/cast8.jpg http://www.paulmarkham.com/temp/cast7.jpg http://www.paulmarkham.com/temp/2001.jpg http://www.paulmarkham.com/temp/1815_01.jpg http://www.paulmarkham.com/temp/2gb.jpg The difference is I had to learn in an arena that was tougher than this one. |

Investing 5 grand their are tons of possibilities, I just find his advice irrelevant because he is trying to tell a newbie how to make 10 grand in a month. A newbie doesn't have 5 grand to invest in this buisness:2 cents: |

Will be employing an old shooter and she will be doing some custom to pay her wages. |

If it were free to start everyone would be doing it and they would make the same money a newbie webmaster does on Duke Dollars. It's only the fact that it takes some money (not a lot), some skills (not a lot) and a lot of talent that makes it so lucrative. Do you ever stop to think before you type? |

As far as what I make now, Paul.. I'm very comfortable. |

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA let me catch my breath HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA Ok Mister I know all, with all your connections why don't you just ask around what it is we do at Homegrown lol. This is from the guy who didn't know what a "traffic leak" was. HAHAHHAHAHAHHA |

Back when I came to the Internet you and your lady wife, plus Unseen Content and a few others were busy telling me my "Magazine" style was not needed on the Net. 7 years later you're working for someone else and your stuff is so in demand your store was a pain in the ass. :Oh crap LM who gives a care what you do working for others, you could not cut it working for yourself in the content business. Or do you want us to believe HomeGrown pay you $120,000. Shit for a little bit more they could get me and Eva. :1orglaugh |

I started this thread as a bit of sarcasm to some of the others offering people get rich quick schemes for little investment, in time, money, effort, skills or talent.
Most of them are aimed at gullible newbies in the hope they will drive a few hundred hits to a site that badly needs traffic. Well it appears to be badly needing to stoop to conning people into thinking it's easy. So let me tell you the truth. If it were easy everyone would be doing and there would be little to no money in it. Except for the very hard working and talented. Or those who got in a long time before and feeding off newbies. What's your chances of making $120,000 profit a year shooting naked women, after a year of trying? Zero to very little. If there were I would not be telling you to do it, I would not put up a blog explaining how to do it. Because common sense tells me you would be taking my business and money away. Jact and LM could only keep a content store running while the Net was desperate for content. Believe my story or theirs, choice is yours. What's the chances of you losing money shooting content. VERY VERY HIGH. What's the odds of you making $120,000 driving traffic in your first year? Ask some of the guys who have been doing it for years and they will tell you. None what so ever. You got better odds picking up a camera. Look around you and see the people telling you the price of an average second hand car is a lot of money. That tells you more about them and your odds of making real money than anything else. A business where newbies drive traffic and earn $50,000 would not reckon $5,000 a lot of money. So please the porn business is not a road paved with gold. It's hard work and a long slog. Or you do what Dirty White Boy does and shoot something illegal in the country he works in. Anyone who thinks Jact was making $120,000 a year and closed it down because it was a pain in the ass, can follow his advice. I made assumptions on the basis I don't close down a business making money and would not think it a pain in the ass. For someone without a clue and making the wrong assumptions I do all right. |

I made my money in content shooting exclusives. Or are you too dimwitted to understand that? My clients still ask me to shoot, I just couldn't be arsed. |

Just for you though, Paul, they value me so little because I'm just useless grunt that they got me a crappy laptop so I could try to stumble along. http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/galle.../52/z03852.jpg I'm sure they happily do that for all their grunts. :) |
Hey Paul I have alot of questions........here are some!
First of all: How could you as a shooter in the U.S. get by with shooting (legal content)? most places are exempt as far as I know from porn shooting but I know there are ways around it!!!(please explain this if possible)..... secondly: Do you know if there is still a market for content (off the web)? it would seem to me at this point that alot of U.S. shooters are going to be going back into the magazine game because of 2257! Thirdly: I do value your advice for you have made a total life and career of it (not as an unprofessional but a master)............... So with that I would like to ask "hey paul if I got 100 chicks ready to get nasty on film and I got the 5k to invest could you help me out???? |
Quote:
or did you mean I have to do some work? in that case it's not really an investment |
I was going to shoot content, but my thumb always gets in the way.
|
Jact and LM.
Sorry but I'm not a quitter and I do not give up a good business with people relying on me because it becomes "A pain in the ass". Do you treat everything like this? You could be quitters or you could be people who tried something and when it no longer worked moved on. When the going gets tough, the tough get going and make more money because the quitters leave it open for them. Of course I'm making assumptions again based on your statements. |

Don't know anyway around the law. The market off the web varies from some very poor to very good. For most of these markets 2257 is more important than the Internet. If someone does not want to give out their home address on the Net, they can move to an office, shoot for others or go find another job. I fully support 2257 and think it should be tight to comply with. Being able to comply puts you in an elite and the law does not cost us surfers. Sorry but this is business not a social club. :winkwink: Shooting for magazines is easy, getting them to buy is tough. You're up against shooters who do not quit when the going gets tough. :winkwink: Getting chicks to perform in front of a camera is the easiest part of my job, getting $5,000 to buy simple equipment is the second easiest part of my job. This is 2007 and more girls today will do solo girl and lesbian work than ever they would in 1997, 1987 or 1977. A video camera good enough for professional work today costs from $1,000 and up. Back in 1987 a Beta Cam camera was $50,000. Hence the market is saturated with content shot by people who picked up a cheap camera and have access to girls. Simple facts of life. |

This is GFY and it's easy to tell people complete illogical bullshit that in the real world people see through it right away. "Give me $5,000 and I can turn it into $10,000 a month. It's easy." "I quit a successful job, when it becomes a pain in the ass." That's just this thread. |
Quote:
Like I said this is GFY. Do you know what's really insulting? You think most of the people here are stupid enough to believe you. You had a part time business making you more than $120,000 a year and you quit. :1orglaugh |

My exclusive content business on the other hand was doing well and flourishing, but perhaps you missed the fact that I was deathly ill for 2006 and the drains on my health to shoot content were not worth it to me. It isn't all about money. You seem to think that everything is black and white, cut and dry, because I quit I must not have been making any money. You couldn't be more wrong. |
Quote:
You said it was making $120,000 a year, not your main income and you quit because it was a pain in the ass. Sounds like you must be on a very big wage at Home Grown. :1orglaugh |

Atleast if we judge by the quality of the photos you have. Nice try. Move on people, no drama here. |
It's like arguing with a brick wall, I'm not sure why I fell for it. Have fun twisting words to make yourself look like a king, Paul.
Oh and for the record, if content is king as you've been saying for years, Homegrown owns your ass in that department too. :) |
Quote:
Why did you say it was because it was a pain in the ass? Sorry but I have a business to run and arguing with someone who shifts and changes like you do is a pain in the ass. See I'm a quitter. :1orglaugh |
Damn :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
This thread is awesome *lol* Never thought so many people would believe this thread was actually serious :winkwink: There are words like "cynicism" and "sarcasm" - also a sense of humor goes a long way :pimp |
Paul Markham has always been
is and will always be an idiot |
Hey Paul did you used to ride a bike back in 1974?
