I love mine. The only issue I have had was due to me I think... I use mine constantly with an EVDO express card, and I have to take that card in and out 4-6 times a day as I move around cause the laptop will not fit in my case with it in. About 2 weeks ago I was setting it up and got a little hasty and punched the card in a little hard and heard a snap. after that the card would not lock in place or power... whoops. So I made a call to apple support, they basically told me to take it over to the apple store. Which I didn't want to do cause it can take 2 weeks to get it back. But I did just to talk to them and get the issue on record. After I got back on the phone explained my issue again, told them that I could not be without this machine for 2 weeks and then gave me a number for another local certified repair. I new the problem at this point, I had broke the EVDO cage, and with a little pushing I was able to get the part number I needed and the repair shop was able to order it. They got the part in in about 1 day and called me to bring in the machine. I dropped it off at 5pm, and picked it up fixed the next morning. Soooo if you have any sort of issue, make sure to push a little, they will work with you to get a repair done quicker though another certified repair center.

I got mine a month ago and love it. It was a huge performance upgrade over my old desktop, and I've been blown away with how "good" the OS feels.

I put Vista on it also with Boot Camp, just to see what it was like, and while the GUI graphical stuff is slick also, the OS just seems so loose and sloppy compared to OSX. Secondly, all the programs I used on Windows are all available for OSX, except for Trillian, which Adium replaces quite nicely.

You won't regret the purchase

Ok.. got a macbook myself a few days ago.. no previous experience whatsoever.. played with it for about 12-15 hours now.. quick summary:

- pro's:
Its a great simple system.. things work like you expect them to work.
took me about 1-2 hours to get used to the 'differences' (things
you take for granted like keyboard positions and close/maximize buttons).
I was affraid that after 10 years 10hours+ per day windows this would be a bitch.
Make sure you get a bluetooth mouse with 2 buttons, without it would
indeed have been one.

- its a flexible machine: its small, fast and batteries seem to last.

With a Windows based laptop things take so long its not very encouraging
to take it on the road with you during short trips let alone use it in the house: the pc (which is always switched on) works faster usually.

But with the macbook.. one button and its switched on and ready from sleepmode.. a complete reboot takes 5-10 seconds max. A bit like
the speed and flexibility of a PDA.
Windows, even on a heavy laptop, takes ages to startup: sleepmode drains
batteries and picking up Wifi and starting applications after returning
from sleepmode is just tiresome..

- With the unix Terminal you basicly 'switch' between an environment my grandmother can use to the integrated unix environment (on which OS X is based) with all the advantages for which i previously had to login to a seperate bsd machine.

Cons:
Little applications , the applications you are used to probably are not available for the mac and if they are (or something similar) youll have pay for it.

Ive found decent replacement for all the apps i use on my main machine
(cuteftp, camino as a firefox replacement, opera for the email, textmate as
a replacement for notepad++ office and photoshop , msn etc) but id have to go without the collection of useful apps that have become part of my basic setup over the years.

Give it a little more time you'll find as many free and shareware programs for OSX as you need.

Here are my top 3:
BBEdit is the must have text editorhttp://www.barebones.com
Interarchy FTP Client http://www.interarchy.com
Camino is my browser of choice http://www.caminobrowser.org/

Mac Software:
http://mac.softpedia.com/
http://www.versiontracker.com/

And of course PHP and Perl are loaded all you need do is enable via the http.conf file
