:mad Thanks Webair !

I host several CLEAN sites on webair's virtual hosted servers.. and had tons of problems so far.. and this is by far the best one ever!

i got an email from google's webmaster service about one of my new sites...

From: "Google Search Quality" <[email protected]>

Dear site owner or webmaster of mytopxxx.com,

We recently discovered that some of your pages can cause users to be
infected with malicious software. We have begun showing a warning page
to users who visit these pages by clicking a search result on
Google.com.
Below are some example URLs on your site which can cause users to be
infected (space inserted to prevent accidental clicking in case your
mail client auto-links URLs):

http://mytopxxx .com/
http://www.mytopxxx .com/

Here is a link to a sample warning page:
http://www.google.com/interstitial?u.../mytopxxx.com/

We strongly encourage you to investigate this immediately to protect
your visitors. Although some sites intentionally distribute malicious
software, in many cases the webmaster is unaware because:

1) the site was compromised
2) the site doesn't monitor for malicious user-contributed content
3) the site displays content from an ad network that has a malicious
advertiser

If your site was compromised, it's important to not only remove the
malicious (and usually hidden) content from your pages, but to also
identify and fix the vulnerability. We suggest contacting your hosting
provider if you are unsure of how to proceed. StopBadware also has a
resource page for securing compromised sites:
http://www.stopbadware.org/home/security

Once you've secured your site, you can request that the warning be
removed by visiting http://www.stopbadware.org/home/review and
requesting a review. StopBadware and Google will jointly investigate
and reply to you with our findings. If your site is no longer harmful
to users, we will remove the warning.

Sincerely,
Google Search Quality Team

I went ahead to check out stopbadware.org report:

Warning

(mytopxxx.com/) has been determined by Google's testing to be a site that hosts or distributes badware. The following are examples of urls on (mytopxxx.com/) that Google has determined can lead users to be infected by badware:
mytopxxx.com/
www.mytopxxx.com/

great... now that my sites are probably blacklisted by Google itself cause of bad server management.. I might as well quit webmastering altogether and just start selling coconuts for monkeys

SERIOUSLY! how they heck does webair manage to fuck things up so much???
I dont want to hear from lamos that get free hosting from webair for sucking their balls .. this is the 3rd time i had freaking popups, auto installs and all kinds of crap due to poor or no proper server management ..and the best is when you do log into their own website to report the problem....there it is...a popup/installer on their support ticketing page.... If you do manage to write up a support ticket.. It is NEVER webair's fault.. gotta love that!

I've had it with webair.

Any adult hosting company.. hit me up 172 937 251

I just checked..went to all the support pages..never got a popup/installer

sounds like it may very well be your computer that is compromised and if that is the case you could be infecting your own pages when you connect to the server..its been posted about many times here and other places.

Thanks for taking your time to check all that for me.

The problems, as i've mentioned b4 ..apart from google's recent notice were over the period of time.

As far as my computer being infected.. it almost sounds like something coming from a webair's support staff

I take precaution in keeping my computer as clean as possible..so that isnt the case...either way.. when i had the problem, Ive double checked my sites on my laptop and other computers.

While I would tend to agree that Webair sucks, a webhost can't protect you from script exploits 100% of the time. Make sure your scripts are up to date, make sure you don't have any old scripts on your site you don't use anymore, make sure whoever uploaded the malware didn't put a backdoor script somewhere on your site.

The #1 reason peoples sites get hacked is not because of the host, it's because so many webmasters are completely clueless. Yes, most of you are clueless. You think that you can upload a script and that's that. You think you can just set all your directories 777 so you don't have any problems with your scripts. You pass your password out to 30 script installers/programmers and never change it, etc, etc, etc...

And then you wonder why the Turkish Hax0R Mafia has replaced every .html file on your site to a banner and an image *******, or why you have an iframe with a virus in it on your page, or why your site is redirecting to someones Latvian landing page.

Here is my webmaster tip for the day. Keep track of every single script you have. Check for updates daily or weekly or monthly. Upgrade your scripts IMMEDIATELY if there is an update available. If you don't know how to do it, ask your host if they can do it for you. Any host worth their salt should be able to help you.

Webair has the worst virtual hosting on the fucking net, and nothing will EVER be done about it. At least 2 hours downtime each night, and all support does is 'restart' services for your account. Closed a few virtuals with them, will never do it again. Then they call and try to give you a month free

anyone who takes hosting seriously has a dedicated server for their projects

why you ask?

because after several years of experience...they realize the quality of service & security protection offered for $9.99 on a box shared by 300 other people can never come close to that of a machine with one user

it is nearly impossible to completely secure a virtual box....

300 customers means 300x the port scans, 300x the cpu load, 300x the scripts being run, & therefor 300x more back doors & programming errors on a user level + 300x more the chance of stability being at risk

when you run a business sometimes you have to leverage cost of operation, with minimizing risks & find a suitable middle ground

that being said...it seems the site causing you issues is codecsoft.com, using anondns.org & hosting out of texas.......not webair

probably a cross site scripting attack...as i find no reference in your code, but i only did a brief overview

fucking everyone jumping on the nutsack of a large company because its been popular lately....you guys crack me up, their a fucking hosting company....not a military installation protecting nuclear secrets

every host out there suffers from these problems....its just not every company has 15,000 clients & $9.99 accounts....so your view is way skewed.

Here ya go sunny, i did some research.....call them up & complain. Put some blame where it belongs instead of bashing a internet service provider.

Ask the fucks why they got out of the telecom business in 2005 & into hijacking servers.

Attention Sonny!!!

Talk to MIKE directly, bypass the support staff if this is a big issue, which you seem to claim it as being.

AIM: moduke96

Give him a few hours to get online, because people do sleep at night every once in awhile.

I wish you luck, but I'm absolutely positive MIKE will take care of you.

This has nothing to do with your host, this has to do with files you have on your server, if you have php files that have security leaks in them, those are the easiest for someone to add code to to popup an adware. even if you move hosts and use the same files you have now it will keep happening, so check your files that it happened to and fix the permisions and or exploits in those scripts.

In fairness to webair, they have been tackling server security issues recently and I'm sure most of the problems are caused by insure scripts - look at the constant updates coming from wordpress for example.........
I've got 2 dedicated servers with webair, I've had my problems/run ins with them - but it seems that most people suffer from 'the grass is always greener on the other side' syndrome....
Webair are as good or as bad as any other hosting company... but to me their good parts out weigh their bad parts....

Exactly, you don't have to care for general server security on shared hosting, but that doesn't protect you from exploitable bugs in your scripts...way to many people just upload a script and never update it, leave installer files on the server, don't check permissions, etc.
