    American Registry for Internet Numbers

    www.arin.net

    heres the deal: today i ask one of my hosts to set up my domains with different IPs. And they tell me that its not possible because of ARIN regulations.

    WTH is that ? Is this true ?

    My other hosts have no problems with giving out IPs for extra $2-5$ bucks a month.

      But why you cant got your own C-class network for example ? It's easy imho...

          Simply a matter of no more numbers to be had at the moment. We either deal with those that have the numbers from now on or we work with virtual named hosts from one allotted number.

          It's always a matter of finding-out-what-you-wish-you-knew-yesterday (TM) on the Net. Once, it was getting a DOT COM NAME.

          Now, it's having that unique IP number to go with it. Domain names were once a seller's item, but IP numbers will be the next big e-bay item.

              They probably don't want to push the ARIN regs.

              ARIN had at one time proposed that an IP address per domain is not a good use of address allocation. Instead, they wanted multiple virtual domains per IP.

                      ProHosters has NO problems giving out IP numbers.

                                  That's bullshit. I've never had a problem getting my sites on seperate IPs. In fact, I just got another block of 64 IPs allocated by my host so I can continue to add domains on their own IP addresses.
