I'm so fucking allergic to cats that I start sneezing immediately upon walking into someone's house who has a cat, regardless of how clean they keep their house.

have had many different pure breeds over the years and must admit that the 2 that has made the biggest impression on me is the Manx and the Mainecoon..

Had a wonderfull sacret birma too but he was the only one i ever meet in this breed that had a personallity worth a damn..

Airek, Devon Rex's run about $500. There is a breeder in Sunrise, FL I've done web work for to barter for my 2 devons. Check out DevonRexCats.com for her contact info or to talk to her for info about the breed.

A note about their fur - their coats take 2-3 years to fill in, they only have 2 types of fur, most cats have 3, they have the downy undercoat and the short hairs, no long hairs. This makes them feel like a bunny, almost like mink, with a kinky texture to give their coats a wavy appearance. They shed, but nothing like a long hair breed. They aren't 'hypoalergenic' but most people with allergies to cats do not feel affected in a devon house or around them. They like to sleep in the bed, underthe covers, by your side, on your pillow - where ever they can touch you. They will follow you around, some fetch, they are lap cats so if you work at home on a computer they will either be on your monitor or in your lap at all times. They get along well with other cats and dogs without getting 'pissy'. Mine didn't really get 'vocal' until they got older - if you ask them a question or talk to them, they'll chirp, meow and twitter back at you. To bathe, just wipe them down with a wet wash cloth as needed (usually only their paws and bellies - bellies dont really get any fur), clean their ears and clip their claws weekly. Scratching - if you have a post around just show them where it is and pretend to claw on it, they will follow suit. If you see them try to scratch something (usually carpet) just show them their post and they learn quickly - we never have a problem. No special diets are needed. Overall health has been excellent - but it does depend on the pet. If you have any problems with a new kitten you should communicate with the breeder first, including any health issues. If you choose a kitten that is not 'right' for your home, most will exchange them for another no problem - they want a happy cat and owner and home over all else. Good luck no matter what type of kitty you choose!

Siamese aren't bad cats, they just gravitate towards one person. If it is just you living in the house obviously it would cling to you. I have always had Siamese and have had some very loving, cuddly, cuties. I do recommend getting a male cat. I have never had a female cat that wasn't horrible.

Have you checked out those naked cats? They are super cute, don't know about their personality though.

Maine Coon Cats are the best !
Cute, smart and looking mean as hell :thumbsup

http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...spring/jjj.jpg ..big ear kittens !

They are more dog like than cat like in many ways (i play fetch with mine) and want to be involved in everything you do, and can be pretty big too (10-14kg if you get the right lines)

Our orange (yellow) cat went missing a few weeks back and it has been torture. Only bright side is the white shit for brains cat just had two kittens and one is orange. If he is anything like his father I plan to have him fixed and hopefully he won't run off.

i have to agree with this. i had a maine coon cat from when i was 5 years old to 18 years old (had to put her to sleep because she had feline breast cancer :( ). she was AWESOME, she had tons of personality and wouldn't hurt a fly. she was also BEAUTIFUL. the pictures posted here of maine coons seriously do not do the breed justice. they look so much better in person.

highly recommended! :thumbsup

ALOT hinges on the way they are raised and so many other things. Journey, my Seal Point is one of the best behaved ones I have, but when she wants your attention, she stops at nothing to get it. She doesn't get on my counters or screw up anything..... she just has an attitude when she wants to play or get a little love.

But she is an amazing cat. :) If you want the name of her Breeder, I can get it for you..... she is the single best breeder of Seal Points and she is cheap. ;)

awesome thank you for the info. i am checking out siberians too. they are pretty cool as well. those devon rex are nice cats people tell me but i think they might freak me out. they kinda look like aliens. :1orglaugh

I think the cat you choose should reflect what YOU want in a cat. I have had Maine Coons (which are also amazing cats) and I have had Mutts, also amazing cats, Manx Cats....... and what I finally settled on were the Himilayans and Persians, THEY are what I wanted in a cat.

When you DO finally settle on a breed and look for a breeder, make DAMN sure you find out their living arrangements prior to getting them, don't just choose one because you found one available..... this is of MAJOR importance. I have 4 Persians I got extremely cheap (two as a gift and two as damn near just delivery costs) and got them home and spent MONTHS literally just taming them, they were born and raised in a "kennel" with no human contact other than vet checks and feeding, they had ZERO knowledge in how to love or be loved. Now they are my most favorites, but this is a crucial thing.

The rest of them were all born and raised "under foot", or in the home and with the family. these make FAR better pets, regardless of the breed. I know you might know this, but I didn't going into this Cattery thing, and now I do. My Himi Breeder turns out some of the MOST amazing and lovable cats I have ever seen...... so while breed choice is crucial, the way in which they are bred and raised is more so important. :winkwink:

i like those seal points but jay says they aint that friendly and reading up on them, he's right. whats the most friendliest coolest pussy out there?

meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

no i don't want a dog. i love dogs too, but my house is clean clean clean and i travel to much to give it the attention they need. a cat don't care if your dead as long as theres food around.

First of all, Dante has plenty of personality!

Strangley, every basic orange tabby cat I've known has been such a badass. Must be the whole Garfield thing. Mine is a total attention whore, loves to roll around with our dog, and is just an all around cool, buff motha-fucker.

tony286 04-10-2007 10:47 AM

sphinx no hair in the house.

tiger 04-10-2007 10:57 AM

Get a Bengal, they have better personalities then any cat I have ever seen.
Get a good one from a good breeder though. They are solid muscle and their spots make them look like mini leopards. (they are actually part asian leopard cat). The one I had could play fetch.

MikeSmoke 04-10-2007 12:54 PM

from my experience, you don't need an expensive breed - a male tabby will be among the smartest cats you'll find - and once he's fixed, he's very loving as well :thumbsup
