The following post was a response to a post saying I had too much timee on my hands and shouldn't I be working like everyone else.

This is what you are upset about?:

I have 3 computers I am using at once. I think I am working.

Owned 2 houses before I was 19 years of age,

My wife has received an award for best small biz in Australia.

And my first computer biz (1983) when I was 17 secured exclusive state wide Govenment tenders. I knew nothing then.

My next biz was featured on MTV nationwide. I still new nothing.

19 years later I know a little bit more and can do a lot more.

I know all the stuff I am posting and it is what has helped me and others to excel. I thought you and others might like to know a bit more about yourself, your eyes etc etc etc

Before that the thread was pretty cool.

Where does it mention incredible success????????????????

Why do you feel the need to continually remind us how fabulous your life is? Were you bullied as a child? Did the other children shun you and force you to create imaginary friends? Why is our approval, nay APPLAUSE, so important to you?

Nice redirect. Anyhow...

Trust me, anyone who has been on this board for more than 6 months has seen your wife in many a position. We all know her quite well. Some of us moreso than others.

Stats bitch. Postem and quit crying.

I mention in the post that was a response to the post you made that has resulted in numerous other posts, that I didn't know much then and know a bit more now. If you think that is grandiose - raise your aim.

I hope you know more about children than your comments in this post might indicate, however I think you may, I think your comments are influenced by your need to believe I am doing something more than posting on a thread I started for ppl who might like to know a bit more about themself.

Refer to the first 3 posts.

Look, I've had to quote myself now.

You've taken this all too far. I've only bothered to argue with you because I find it amusing and relaxing. The fact that you keep up a circular argument that never goes anywhere (being that you won't bow to the jackals and post some stats. Myself, I don't give a flying fuck if you are richer than Bill Gates and married to Catherine Zeta Jones or Bill Smith up the road with a small 2 bed semi married to Jane who works in the fish shop) makes it all that much easier to fuck with you. (Reread that, it makes sense if you read it slow enough)

I made my original comment because you were posting some stuff that no one (Well almost no one) on GFY would bother to read let alone respond to. But not just one post, but MANY and not in one post but in several concurrent posts in the same thread. I said before that the info you posted might be interesting and enlightening. That wasn't the point. I made a rhetorical and flippant comment and you decided to show me that you are a big shot. I just don't understand why you are bothering.

Usually when a thread gets this far on day one I assume the author is out for a DVD player but with all YOUR CASH I'm wondering if its an ego thing.

Yes, I have now rescinded my promise not to get re-involved in this but you are really starting to show some aggression and that means more fun for me!!!

Hey Kat,

It did get a little out of hand.

I haven't got any more to say about the eyes. Since it is a thread about the mind and body, I do have some more about that in general.

Here it is:

Did you know that music can affect your mood: it can make you feel happy, enchanted, inspired, wistful, excited, empowered, comforted, heroic. Music also has an even more astonishing power, one you may have suspected from your own experience.

Quite simply music is good for you - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Particular sounds, tones and rythms, especially the music of Mozart, Gregorian Chant, and some Jazz, New Age, Latin, pop, and even rock music, can strengthen the mind, unlock, the creative spirit, and miracuously, even heal the body. This remarkable phenomon is called THE MOZART EFFECT.

Amazing stuff:

The Mozart Effect.

"The vocal nourishment that the mother provides to her child is just as important to the child's development as milk."
- Alfred Tomatis M.D.

"Weighing just over one-and-a-half pounds, Krissy was born prematurely in a Chicago hospital with a life-threatening condition. Doctors put her on total life support. Other than an occasional pat on the head, the only positive stimulation she received was from constant infusions of Mozart that her mother
begged nurses to pipe into the neo natal unit. Doctors did not think Krissy would live; her mother believes that music saved her daughter's life.

Krissy could not sit up at age one and did not walk until she was two. Her motor skills were poor, and she was anxious, introverted and uncommunicative. Despite all this, at age three she tested far ahead of her years in abstract reasoning. One evening her parents took Krissy to a short chamber music concert. For days afterward, Krissy played with an empty tube from a paper towel roll, which she placed under her neck and 'bowed' with a chopstick. Enchanted, her mother enri\olled Krissy in Suzuki violin lessons with Vicki Vorrieter in Chicago, and the four-year-old girl could immediately reproduce from memory pieces several levels beyondher physical ability. Over the next two years, her strength and co-ordination on the instrument began to catch up with her mental capacity. With the support and encouragement of her parents, teachers, and fellow students, who were trained to perform in a group spirit, Krissy stopped wringing her hands in fear and began to socialize. Through a combination of pluck and grace, the little girl who was born weighing less than her violin could now express herself - and be whole.

more amaxing stuff.

The Mozart Effect

"In the last several years, many stories like Krissy's (previous post) have emerged. The enhanced effects of music - especially Mozart and his contemporaries - on creativity, learning, health, and healing have become more widely appreciated.

Here are a few examples:

* In monasteries in Brittany, monks play music to the animals
in their care & have found that cows serannaded with Mozart
gave more milk.

* In Washington State, Immigration Department officials play
Mozart & Baroque music during English classes for new arrivals
from Cambodia, Laos & other Asian countries & report that it
speeds up their learning.
* At Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, patients in critical care
units listen to classical music. 'Half an hour of music produced
the same effect as ten milligrams of valium," Dr Raymond Bahr,
director of the coronary care unit reports.
* The city of Edmonton Canada pipes in Mozart, string quartets
in the city squares to calm pedestrian traffic, and, as a
result drug dealings have lessened.

lots of other benefits too many to mention.

Now there is a new concept. Music affects your mood??? No one here knew that did they?!?

The average webmaster on this board has an IQ higher than average and probably is at least reasonably educated. Also wemasters tend to be creative people and those kinds of people usually have an exceptional appreciation for how music affects your mood.

Depending on your preference, music affects people in many ways. In my case, Tori Amos makes me feel passionate, Pink Floyd relaxed, and Queen always cheers me up.

If you have anything to say about mind and body (which I know you do; you've posted SEVERAL times) at least make it stuff that people don't know about.

BTW, yes, I am bashing you just for the sake of it now. I'm enjoying myself. I'm having my first glass of red wine in 4 months and enjoying the warm feeling.

Beastiepoo, Speaking of IQs

Smart Music

The Mozart Effect

"The power of Mozart's music has come to public attention largely through innovative research at the University of California in the early 1990s. At the Center for the Neorobiology of Learning and Memory in Irvine, a research team began to look at some of the effects of Mozart on college students and children. Frances H. Rauscher, Ph.D., and her colleagues conducted a study in which thirty-six undergraduates from the psychology department scored eight to nine points higher on the spatial IQ test (part of the Stanford-Binet intelligence scale) after listening to Mozart's, "Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major". Although the effect only lasted ten to fifteen minutes, Rauscher's team concluded that the relationship between music and spatial reasoning was so strong that simply listening to the music can make a difference.

Mozart's music "may 'warm up' the brain," suggested Gordon Shaw, a theoretical physicist and one of the researchers, after the results were announced. "We suspect that complex music facilitates certain complex neuronal patterns involved in high brain activities like math and chess. By contrast, simple and repetitive music could have the opposite effect.

Firehorse 08-15-2002 04:45 PM

"Your inner consciousness is a powerful force whose influence is felt in almost every aspect of your life. It is, in fact the major and most important part of who you are, and it is the main cause of success and failure.

Everything at its purest and deepest essence is energy, and whenever you think, you are working with an immense amount of this energy in the quick, light, mobile form of thought. Thought is forever attempting to find form, is always looking for an outlet, is always trying to manifest itself. It is the nature of thought to try and materialize into its physical equivalent. Our normal thoughts can be compared to sparks from a fire. Though they contain the essence and potential power of the flame, they normally dissipate quickly. They last only a few seconds, fly into the air and quickly burn out.

Although a single unaided thought hasn't much power, through repitition the thought can become concentrated and directed, and its force can be magnified many times. The more the thought is repeated the more energy and power it generates, and the more readily it is able to manifest itself.

Weak and scatterd thoughts are
weak and scattered forces.
Strong and concentrated thoughts are
strong and concentrated forces.

to illustrate this, picture a magnifying glass through which the sun's rays pass. If the magnifying glass is moved about from spot to spot, the power of the sun's rays is diffused and not apparent. If, however, the magnifying galss is held still and focussed correctly at the proper height, thise same rays become concentrated, and that diffused light suddenly becomes a force powerful enough to ignite a fire.'

We would benefit from watching our thoughts , we creatures of habit and as such can do things repatedly, routinely without thinking about it consciously. A bit like driving a car somewhere, and then realizing, how did I get here.

Bruce Lee said :
"The most powerful weapon in the world is a focussed mind."

Ask yourself this regularly; what are you focussing on right now, what are you directing the immense power of your mind or conscious and subconscious energy too.

It starts with one thought layer by layer until it becomes a habit, then it controls you - "A mighty flame followeth a tiny spark."
- Dante

" Music can regulate stress-realtes hormones.
Anesthesiologists report that the level of stress hormones in the blood declines significantly in those listening to relaxing ambient music - in some cases replacing the need for medication. These hormones include adrenocorticotrophic (ACTH), prolactic, and human growth (HGH) hormone. Political leaders, trial lawyers, surgeons, moms, and other people who operate under great stress intuitively sense the powers of music to calm and relax.
'I cannot listen to music too often,' Lenin confessed after listening to a soothing Beethoven Sonata. 'It makes me want to say kind, stupid things, and pat the heads of other people."

Yes, music is fantastic stuff. If it weren't it wouldn't be such a huge part of society today. I love music and admit and agree that it can do wonderful things but no one here wants to hear all the above crap about healing stories and so forth. And why not put all the info into ONE post, rather than several in sequence?

And not that it is any of your business BUT... ONE glass of red wine in 4 months of pregnancy is going to do no harm to me or my baby. Foetal alcohol syndrome comes from when a mother consumes an inappropriate amount of alcohol on a regular basis throughout pregnancy. I probably won't have another alcoholic drink for at least 4 weeks, and probably longer.

Post some sort of proof for quiet and [Labret] so I can stop running in circles. I'm starting to get dizzy!

Firehorse 08-15-2002 05:01 PM

Do you know about 'Entrainment'?

I agree as stated in the 'Ripple Effect' as in all else that:

"When we try to pick out anything by itself,
we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." - John Muir

"These complex interconnections are also demonstrated by the scientific concept of entainment, which explains how similar life forms have a collective consco\iousness, and can act as a single entity.

For instance, when people participate in choirs and music bands, many of their vital body functions perform at similar rates. This includes their breathing patterns, their heart rates, and even their brain wave patterns.

This connectedness can be sensed by the individuals in the group. If you have ever sung in a choir, or palayed an instrument in a band, you may be familiar with this feeling.

In other examples of entrainment, large flocks of birds, flying in unison, will flick and change direction as one. Women in prisons and college dormitories will oftenfind that their menstrual cycles fall into alignment. Giant schools of fish will swim as one, flicking and turning as if they are a single entity.

Everything is intrivately connected to everything else. It is as though all life on Earth is part of a maqgical spider's web. When you touch one part, it can set off vibrations in many other parts, thereby causing a ripple effect."

I've experienced this most of my life. Singing in groups, playing in groups, generally creating music with others around you. This entrainment is only evident in these situations BECAUSE if you are not in tune with the others around you, and your body the music sounds CRAP. Your heartrate and breathing change to match the time signature of the music because if they don't you don't make good music. Same in a choir. You breathe together so the music sounds good. Simple as that.

Entrainment is much more apparent in nature. Animals have instinct that can be called entrainment. Don't apply it to people because it is a choice more than an instinct.

My HUMUNGOUS apologies if I posted too quick for you to post 6 more replies all saying the same thing.

Still dancing around the questions, changing the subject. I feel like I should smear on warpaint and light a fire to dance around in circles.

You seem to know a little bit about entrainment. And it is scientists who state their is a correlation in instinctual entrainment in people and animals.

You seem to want to prove that you know something about entrainment, I am simply sharing it with the people reading this thread.
