Chicago Peeps a question

Looking at flying into O'hare and trying to decide on cab, train, or towncar to take 3 of us to the Hyatt Regency Downtown. Anyone give me any input on what kind of price I might see on a cab ride for three of us with two bags each prolly? Does one of the subway trains stop near the Hyatt Regency?

You can probably find a map of the L-Train routes online. I think I'd probably go with a car service. More and more I'm finding car services are much cheaper than cabs, though I suppose you need to keep schedule for it to work.

if you do end up taking a cab out of ohare, just go outside, write any name on a peice of paper and hold it up above your head, a cabbie will come up to you saying "you called for a cab?" just say ya and you bypass waiting the 20 minutes in the cab line.

you can check to see what trains take you downtown from ohare here: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com

yeah hotels.com is offering a car for $105 for 3 people to our hotel from the airport. Looks like a cab will be atleast 35-40 and that depends on traffic. I drove I-90 into Chicago last time and no fucking way will I be doing that again lol.

why do you say that? we took that from downtown to Wrigley Field the last time I was in Chicago. Sure it was packed after the game but other then that it was pretty easy.

Now it looks like the nearest stop is about 6 blocks away from our hotel! That sucks ass. The only time we will need it is to get to Wrigley though.

I stayed at the Hyatt downtown a few years ago and we rented a car. We also rode the L and went to a cubbies game - after the game go to one of the neighborhood bars. Great drinking/food and 2 of the ones we went to had batting cages in them. AND went to an EXCELLENT hole in the wall Italian restaurant that must have been in a bad part of town because they had to unlock the front door to let you in ;)

Chicago isn't any more dangerous than any big town. Pay attention to your surroundings and you're fine.

The Hyatt might have a shuttle - check that too.

Sosa, I'm from Chi. I'd say just take the Blue Line El Train from O'Hare (I take it to work daily from my neighborhood) to the Loop and then just hop a cab real quick to the hotel. El train rides will be $2.00 per person and then you guys split a cab...that's way cheaper.

And it's perfectly safe, by the way. Sure, there might be a bum here and there, but hey, what's a ride on public transit in a big city without one of them?

Its been awhile since I lived in Chicago, but that ride on the L from O'Hare to downtown is a long ride. 45 mins or so if I remember right. Bring something to read.

Every time i have taken a limo in chicago it was a diffrent company im not really a limo person google limo companies around here and just call around for the best deal if all your doing is getting a ride downtown type and age of limo should not really matter its not like your going to be spending all day in it.
