$4.17 A Gallon For Gas In California!!!

People are begging for money on the street for gas!

For the past week people have been pulling over to the side
of the road and begging people for money for gas and now I
see why!

We're turning into Europe!

yes, yes... wake up to the madness!

not only is the gas high, but they are moving to increase the fees of riding the metro (train/buses) in los angeles:

$2.00 one-way ticket (currently, $1.25)
$5.00 all-day pass (currently $3.00)

and Circuit City just laid off 3400 - 3500 ppl because they earned to much, bahahaha.. whatever!! the quoted top salary was $15/hr.

somethings up!

That's hard to believe, maybe in one gas station there, but I don't think it's even close to that on average...

I don't care how much it costs cause I have nowhere to drive. I only drive to the atm machine to deposit checks and to buy food so I won't starve to death and they are both 2 minutes away from me.

Sometimes a tank will last me longer than a month. Not because gas is expensive, but because there is nowhere to drive. I work from home and don't socialize/go out so I don't care about gas.

I think for webmasters that work from home gas is irrelevant, cause I can't think of anywhere to drive to besides bank and grocery store... Sometimes I can go for weeks without driving anywhere and just let the checks pile up
and also too lazy to drive to the store so I'll just eat whatever I have.

Unless if you have friends or family and visit them or go out everyday or something there's not much driving needed if you work from home.

No, clearly time for Americans to realize that if you want to drive a fat fuel sucking SUV you will have to pay for the privilege.

If you replaced 50% of the SUVs on the road today with even normal mid-sized cars, the whole economic and political situation in the world would change.

I wish our customers felt the same way. They however seem to freak out and cut down on spending.

Problem is when gas goes up the price of everything goes right up with it. Not just transportation but even the damn cost of the food we eat.

I only buy groceries from Trader Joe's and they dont have delivery. I don't shop at normal stores like Albertsons or Ralphs etc I ONLY shop at Trader Joe's. If they don't have something at Trader Joe's I just won't get it. They always have new and unique stuff there for me to try so I adjust whatever I need to whatever they have.

It's next to my house but I still get stressed out shopping. I don't like being in a crowded environment full of people, it irritates me.

Americans drive twice the distance per year than Europeans, so it hurts us more. We'll just drive less as the price goes up to even it out.

there are two gas stations I found that are about $.15 less per gallon. One is on the corner of Washington and Abbot Kenney in Venice, and the other is off Palms/National on the corner of Beverly drive (back way into BH from Venice).

Precisely.

High energy prices cause everything to cost more. When everything costs more you have inflation. What's worse, when confronted with inflation the government always raises interest rates. Higher interest rates slow down the economy and when the economy slows down too much you get a recession.

If you have a recession and energy prices continue to remain high you get inflation and recession going on at the same time.

There's a word for that sort of thing, it's called stagflation.

Anyone here old enough to remember (or remember reading about) the Jimmy Carter years knows exactly what I'm talking about.

25% interest rates and no jobs

If you think sales suck now you haven't seen anything yet.

Let's just hope it doesn't play out like that this time around.

It should be obvious by now how the game is played. Soon as oil costs go down, somebody starts shit in the middle east causing reason for escalating costs.

I would call it a rip off but it's such a long standing pattern you can only refer to it as the way business is run.

Americans don't bitch and scream because almost half the oil stock in the U.S. is in pension funds. More price for gas, the higher the stocks, the happier the old people.

I forget how much a discount on gas stockholders get. Anyone recall?

So you ain't gonna see any electric cars or alternate fuels any time fucking soon. Forget about it, drop the idea, it's all bullshit.

The only way we'd get alternate fuels is if the African countries suddenly started making it hand over fist. Then you'ld see cars running on fucking air.

It's about greed and control and you're not going to get the general public to do jack squat.
