The Word Snizz, Tonight’s South Park, and my new project (an omen)

A couple of weeks ago, me and my CTO were kicking around names for our new adult site that would be a porn knockoff of Youtube. We brainstormed on a bunch of different domains for the site and couldn’t find anything good that had been taken. We were trying to come up with a good viral-video theme and I suggested “Snizzshare.com” from remembering “snizz” as an obscure pussy reference from High School.

Today, we soft-launched snizzshare to the webmaster community with a good reception.

So, I turn on the new Southpark and out of nowhere they’ve made a complete episode based around the 80-or-so instances of the word “snizz”!!! (If you haven’t seen it, it’s really funny)

How crazy is that?

Is it Matt and Trey giving it their official blessing? Or just coincidence?

Either way it’s pretty fucking cool.

Day 2 - oh boy

Yesterday Snizzshare soft launched and put up some really good numbers. Thanks to all the sponsors out there that have already jumped onto the train.

it all depends on the compression and encoding and the condition the clips were in when they are compressed with the flash encoder.

most of that shanes world and college invasion stuff you see in there is at 1600kbps or at the least 1000kbps, but all flash sites even youtube crush the video in consideration of the bandwidth that it costs them to serve it. i think many of the vids look a hell of alot better than youtubes. theres no way around it unless the submitters want to pay part of the bandwidth bill :winkwink:

If you're right, i guess that the video submitter would have to send a lower quality/re-encode the video and that could fix the problem.

I think you are actually talking about the pixelation of the thumbnail that is shown for the smashbucks videos going up. I still have a few kinks in the thumbnail creation that I am working out. However we are manually replacing those not so pretty thumbnails with nice clean ones.

The Smashbucks videos seem to be playing just fine - any graininess looks like it is attributed to the fact that this is "Classic" porn which was shot back in the day - still looks fantastic here (thanks Harley Girl)

Thanks for all the input guys! I am actually not compressing the uploaded versions of the videos that much at all. We wanted this to be about quality and we will do our best to keep it that way. What you upload is hopefully damn close to what you get!

Actually i can't see shit, i'm on linux with a 64bit cpu and os and there's no plugin for firefox :o . I tought the thumbnail was representative of the video. Do you know why you are getting those pixels in the thumb?

Its a problem with mplayer - it can be real finicky. In the meantime we just got those thumbs corrected.
