Quebecers: So was tonights result a resounding NO to seperation?

PQ only got about 28% of the seats so was that a message to them??

This is a minefield, but I will walk into it anyway.

Tonight's deal sort of shows a couple of important things. The Quebec people didn't really want more Charest, but the choice of the PQ (and especially Boisclair) really turned many people off (especially in the regions where the PQ is strong). The choice remaining is the unknown, Mario Dumont, who sort of ends up winning a bunch of seats by default.

The other part is it brings another minority government into the Canadian scene, and starts to show a real splitting of public opinion that is likely not to go away. There is a very strong potential that on both a provincial and federal level, we will be looking at minority governments for a long time to come.

Well everyone is now saying there will be another election in like 18 months. So more money spent on advertising and useless banners across every lamp post.

Think of it as an oppurtunity.

I'm glad the PQ took a beating. Quebec separation is an old and retarded idea.

Personally I don't see the point in separating anymore. Canada recognize us as a nation and starts treating us as such.

Most young french canadians are bilingual, so the language barier isn't the same.

We managed to keep our culture as well.

                  That is a funny statement....

But it is the true definition of a bilingual : a french speaking english ....

BTW, the Liberals took a hell of a beating , the PQ a beating and the ADQ took over the protest vote plus some that do believe in him.

This is what make Quebec different ... We change , don"t stay the course

RawAlex analyse is pretty much on the dot....

.. and vice versa... Most English / American network have no interest in foreign product.

But on PPV, on BEV, you can now see UN DIMANCHE A KIGALI ( A SUNDAY IN KIGALI ) ... Hard flick about the Rwanda genocide... Today, in Montreal, has started the trial of a participant in that Genocide ....

Obviously the US stations aren't going to be in French etc... but what about the Canadian ones? Can you not get SAP or whever it's called audio channel in Quebec? Not even on the CBC?

                          Not really .

Also, a dubbing of a theatrical movie is about 35K ... No way would CBC would pay a premium ... for no ratings.... I know, I use to distribute features to Cineplex and Famous, then to the Movie Channel/Super-Ecran , then the video window, then the conventional tv ( no ppv in my time...)

Would Vancouver pay to get a french track on their broadcast... No, and it wouldn't make any sense.

Bilingual country was the idea of PET ... It just didn't and will not happen ... doesn't make any sense.

Well the the thing is, the movies have already been dubbed. So it should only be a matter of broadcasting the alternate audio on that special carrier. We're both getting screwed IMO.

No, it gets back to a rights issue. They would have to pay more to have the rights to both the english and french versions, which would pretty much make things useless.

Further, the commercials would only be in one language, which would also mean no additional income against extra viewers.

Just not going to happen any time soon.
