Similar to Word War II where a lot of the best world scientists were from other countries, it's similar now. No investment in true education to give us the edge for long term growth. Always looking at the bottom line NOW instead of the longevity of the whole (i.e. greed).

the Chinese economy is growing at 10% and it has been for the last couple of years, the Indian economy gowing at 8%, both economies fueled by the cheap labour, I think the US could've taken advantage of that and some companies are doing it (outsourcing etc) but not fast enough

The GDP includes goverment spending which would include servicing debt and the current US debt is about 80% of the GDP.
