Well I can't stand Bush, but I've always thought Iran should have been the original target. They are and always have been the real threat and supporters of terrorism.
I wouldn't want to go into another war with Bush as president he's fucked up so much already it's not ever funny. On a side note, one thing I can say about Bush. Is if those had been US sailors we likely would have lobbed a few cruise missiles at them already.

Bush hasn't "fucked up" anything. Our country has gone soft. We have unrealistic expectations. Critics blast Bush for taking years, but the real timetable for changing that area is several decades, if not longer.
There are so many reasons to hit Iraq it isn't even funny. The abduction of the UK sailors is just another in a long list.Comment

the US can't nuke them for the exact same reason they went into Iraq. They don't want to pay 150 dollars for oil.
if they nuke the area you wouldn't be able to get any oil from the ground for the next 150 years or so so that's out.
the reason they took UK sailors is because they know if they did this to the US it would be considered an act of war by the US and there would be far greater sections in the UN although I don't think the US would have attacked until necessary (such as a soldier getting hurt or killed) because the arm forces are stretched out as much as they can at this time.
the US should get involved if the UK asked them because the UK was there when the US asked them for support in Iraq. if they don't it would mean that no country would trust them again when it comes to needing support in return.
and just for the record no matter what Iran says about water this or that the reason they are doing this is to find out how far they can go before retaliation is done.
think about it, they know the world needs their oil so unless we stop oil flow from Iran to the world and are willing to pay for higher prices to show them we don't need them they will continue to have not only the western world but the entire world around their little finger.
if china and other countries supported not buying oil from Iran they would wake up and say SHIT WE ARE IN TROUBLE, LETS PLAY BALL WITH THOSE GUYS CAUSE WE CAN'T PLAY GAMES WITH THEM ANYMORE. THEY FOUND OTHER PLACES TO BUY THE OIL THEY NEED AND WE ARE NO LONGER HOLDING THE BALL.

Just have to wait and see what proof the Iranians present to the UN this week that the sailors were in Iranian waters - they say they have it - of course that waterway has had a border dispute as to where Iraq and Iran border actually is for years - long before this war.
If the British were indeed in the Iranian territorial waters then they have every right to arrest them - just as the US does if someone does something within the 12 mile limit we impose around our country - Maritime law is pretty cut and dry and if Iran has the proof they will show it - if not - they were just lobbying for some weakness in the European coalition at the UN prior to the sanctions vote that backfired on them - no big deal - they just will come out and say they had a navigational error and release them without losing face. If they have the proof then they will detain them and have a trial - no big deal.Comment

BTW - Im not really sure why this is getting so much attention this time - the same thing happened 3 years ago with 8 British soldiers and Sailors - and Iran released them after 3 days when Britain finally admitted they had been in Iranian territorial waters - of note this time - the British refuse to give out the geographical location these soldiers were at this time - maybe the same issue again?Comment
