Not true, I've seen adult videos uploaded and deleted after a while.

Just hire hire 50 indian guys and tell them to check 1000 videos each, pay each one $5 a day and you're done.

Like we do on our network of free dating sites. Users can report fake profils and we delete them asap.

Well man, I'm not saying that I am sure about this. I'm just saying that they have a system that a lot of entrepreneurs would have lover to have and it would be worth really big bucks.

Think of how many people probably thought about a Youtube concept then trashed the Idea after thinking a buch of CP would be uploaded and they would be in a shit situation. Youtube thought about it, and solved the problem and that in itself is worth money.

Nodtveidt 03-24-2007 06:29 PM

This is a pretty silly thread.

yeah einstein... they solved it with reviewers and a link under each video for youtube users to flag a video as "innapropriate"

you are so dumb... that after a few more posts, dumb people are going to start complaining.

Good point! But, that would be an algorithm now wouldn't it?

WOW genious... 1.2 billions for an algorithm ?

Buy videocharge for 40 bucks, it can do that for you...

A program doing that would cost a couple thousands to develop.

You really have NO clue about the online business, web developement and techniques used to acheive what they want.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

It would seem thay solved it that way, but I never report anything so why should I believe all these vigilant surfers are.

So explain why the "reviewers" don't stop the obvious copyrighted material!!!
Are they so stupid that the can't recognize a Seinfeld episode?

Theo 03-24-2007 06:35 PM

It's less sophisticated than you think and nothing new, check out for example videobox.com. Script can also check for sound, corrupted files etc. Instead accepting the user could just decline bad videos, in a large screen someone could even preview over 100 videos/min. Without even putting him on full force every hour, he could do 25k videos/day. That's 3 employees ;-)

sortie 03-24-2007 06:42 PM

Explain why Youtube reviewers can find porn but they can't find the copyrighted material that they are now facing a 1 billion dollar law suit over.

So they allowed content that will get them sued and persued content that's already in their search engine because.....why????

Is it possible that there's a algorithm to find porn but not other copyrighted material?

sortie 03-24-2007 06:44 PM

50 skeptical lamers.

That would still be proprietary software worth big bucks that involved algorithms, so you are only proving my point here.

You're logic is so flawed. If you're fat and ugly, why there are hot people out there ?

Wikipedia was built by a secret algo too.

Theo 03-24-2007 06:45 PM

Who told you they can't (at least on a significant degree)? Copyrighted material is what made youtube what it is now.

Because youtube makes the bank by putting copyrighted content up... and it's potically correct to their userbase.

We have a video site such as youtube, and we let lots of stuff slip until we get complaints.

The TOS states that the user has to own the copyrights... that, they can't review.

Oh, so since I don't have a big porn site like you then I don't know anything??

Just because you make a lot of money with a porn site doesn't mean you know everything and everybody else is stupid.

I make decent money programming for a cellular phone company but I don't call everyone stupid for dialing wrong numbers!!!!

fantasysnatch 03-24-2007 07:03 PM

googoo bought utube for the users, the community ... that is their focus.

no... you don't know anything and you have proven that in this thread. you are stupid because you won't listen to reason, ignore the obvious and cling to an idea that anyone can see is totally retarded, a few of whom, have taken the time to explain that to you... explanations which you choose to fully ignore.

dude... try to grasp this... last time... just for you. users flag youtube.com videos. the link is right there under each video. people do in fact review them manually. google has people manually reviewing SERPS from time to time... they have links for users to flag Adwords ads from time to time. its not difficult to control youtube.com no matter how you look at it and no matter what you seem to think, there is no magic "algorithm" and if you weren't such an idiot, you would realize immediately that 1) they don't develop and sell software. 2) if they want a piece of software, they don't need to pay 1.2 BILLION dollars for it. they are known to have access to programmers.

Shoehorn! 03-24-2007 07:09 PM

An algorithm to identify a porn video? :1orglaugh

SmokeyTheBear 03-24-2007 07:11 PM

i dont think your crazy sortie, i dont think your correct but your not crazy.

Why did google buy youtube ? because it has recognition, anything that big could spin off its own search engine or similar service and corner the market.. google is afraid . they bought it to run it into the ground so google video can flourish

p.s. your video porn algorithm has merit though

SmokeyTheBear 03-24-2007 07:16 PM

the money is in future contract with networks o broadcast their shows/movies

Youtube being more popular and bigger than google videos was in the prime position to snap these contracts up, now those nwtorks only have 1 choice. google or google

SweetT 03-24-2007 07:22 PM

When are you people going to realize that the Google/YouTube deal has absolutely NOTHING to do with videos...NOTHING.

On September 31, GOOG was trading for just under $400/share. Within a month of the announcement it was trading at more than $500/share. Google's stockholders value went up by almost $5B (yes, that is a B)...and don't you for one second think that it was a coincidence. The stock market is what makes the world go around...it is legalized gambling and companies do it ALL THE TIME!

It doesn't take a brilliant business person to answer this question.....Is it a good deal if a company acquires another company for $1.6B if 30 days later their value increases by more than $4B??

Seems like an easy answer to me.

Going back to Soul_Rebel's thumb idea, it's pretty easy for a human to spot naked people; it's a little more involved to try and actually recognise faces or content.

FWIW people even flag vids of girls in bikinis.

I'm the one to tell you that a filter who could pull all adult content videos on the side for reviewers to reveiw asap wouldn't be hard to write... pixel tone and stuff... and it would be a couple thousands MAYBE a dozen thousadns to develop.

Captain Obvious, they wouldn't have bought it if there wasn't potential in it... people gamble on potential.

We have pre videos ads getting 12 % CTR on our network... because people are forced to watch them unlike standard television where you can zap... for now.

Online broadcasting is one of big things that's going to happen on the internet in the next 2 years, and they bought the biggest recognized support for it.

In the end, it's all about making money.

P.S. Even Bill Gates said online broadcasting is the future of television.

Now that I totaly see. Great point!

I've "trolled" the board long enough without posting to have read a few of your threads and it is clear that you are one of the more advanced technical minds on GFY. So, I respect that you don't completely agree, yet have an open mind. Of course, a person has to really be tech savy to even consider what I said a possiblity.

And "possiblity" was all I was really saying.

Well, that's exactly what the "algorithm" would be. So thanks for clarifying my point without making one of your own.

So go ahead and write the "couple thousands" dollar software so Microsoft can put it in it's browser and make porn haters STFU and make a cool mil!!!

But, you won't write it, because you can't.

Let's see...70 employees who each screen 1000 vids in their perspective 8 hour shift...??? That's 125 vids per hour each or 2.08 vids per minute.

If someone had to take a shit then they got fired at that pace.

And at a meger $7 an hour for a 40 hour for 70 employees that would be
1 million 19 thousand 2 hundred dollars per year if they broke the law and didn't pay unemployment insurance + matching Social security + manditory health benefits for all full time. So it would cost them near 2 million a year for human screening at the least. That for a company with no revenue????

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
