PS3 Launched in europe today

Any other nerd got theirs?

I had my birthday yesterday so I figured I'd get myself a PS3, a 42" full-hd tv and a home theater. I usually don't spend money on myself, but I figured my 28" sony tv needed replacement, and since I got a full hd tv, might as well buy a ps3 that can play blu-ray films too. Buying stuff is a lot more fun tham I remembered. I gotta buy something nice in a few years again.

..and I'm off.

£425 for the PS3 here. And for a poorer version of the console aswell.

I'll either wait a while for a sizeable price drop, or just get a 360 instead...

The ps3 I got was €679 but it's not bad since you also get the blu-ray player. Which was one of my motivations to get the full-hd tv.

..and scott McD, what do you mean 'poorer' version? Are you crying because it doesn't play PS2/PS1 games with 'hardware'?

I'm only reporting what i've read and saw on the news. There was another one or two things it said which made it a 'poorer' 'stripped down' console.

I'll check and see if i can find the link, because right now i can't remember. I didn't show too much interest at the time...

I think Wii will get really old really fast. (que for twisted illustration to defend how superior wii is).

But that's just me, I'd rather pay too much for something I think is fun, than to get something *I* think is a piece of shit and pay a good price for it.

Umm? You hook the machine to your TV, then you buy games and play with it..or you insert a blu-ray disc into it and watch a movie. What do you mean, you don't know what to do with it? Why did you guys buy it to begin with?

Oh, and if anyone in europe wonders... import games DO work. I had a canadian sponsor of mine send me 3 region 1 games + a controller, and they work in my finnish machine without any issues.

..and I'm off.

I sold my PS2 in september or so. I haven't missed the console really, but I've worked too hard recently.. I need a way of relaxing before the golf-season starts in the end of may.

Nope. They do have some EA sport-titles though. I bought myself tiger woods, and it seems ok. I can't wait until PES though.

I bought it because we figured that maybe once Sony would follow through on their promises. But alas, they didn't. Now they're losing exclusive games on a regular basis making the XBox360 look a lot better than it already is.

Games available on both systems, in comparison, look better on the 360. Add in the Achievements and XBoxLive and it only get's better.

So far only one PS3 game has held my attention for more than a few days, and that was Resistance: Fall of Man. Not a bad shooter, but not great by any means.

There's still hope. I do get to watch the movies I can't get on HDDVD.

I haven't really followed what Sony has promised and what they haven't..hence I can't be disappointed. Also, I don't care about exclusive games.. so what if it's available on both platforms, you probably can't even distinguish the difference in the games unless you compare them side-by-side. Big deal, besides Xbox is slightly older platform, so the programmers have had more time to develop the games, so they may look better.. but I'm pretty sure sony games will looks absolutely stunning in the future.

Just look at something like God of War 2 on PS2, it looks amazing on very old hardware. People need time to make good games, launch games usually aren't anything to root about

I personally am sick and tired of the Xbox vs. PS3 battle. Who cares if the other console is 'better', shouldn't it be what YOU like to play? *I* like ps3 controller, and I dislike xbox controller etc.. what should YOU care what other people think? Buy what YOU want to. I wanted PS3, so I got one. If I had wanted a xbox360, I would have bought one.
