Tell me why Kobe Jordan isn't the greatest NBA player ever....

greatness isn't measured in just championships

Even I, a Kobe fan for a long time(and formerly Jordan fan), would never compare the two till now. He can do it all.

Kobe would make him dizzy running circles around him. The guy can shoot and score with 3 guys in his face. I doubt the Stilt could stop him.

he's been on fire many times throughout his career, but yeah, damn ... 65, 50 and 60 last 3 games! It's not just scoring either. He can assist well when he has to/wants to, rebound, steal, plays great D, even runs down and blocks shots and clutch! With Odom and Walton healthy, The Lakers are a top 3 team IMO

i still think jordan was better. he just played with more style and made the game look effortless.

kobe's a self centered cry baby little bitch. whines when shaq says its his team, says he wont play with him. then phil asks kobe to get his team more involved and kobe responds by passing the ball the entire game and taking 5-6 shots, etc.. the kid is a proven douche in my opinion.

and Shaq isn't self centered? Come on.. He "had" to be the highest paid player and Kobe was stealing his thunder. Then San Antonio and Detroit figured out who the real threat was and triple teamed Kobe and no more championships... What did he say about the security of his family after joing the Heat? lol The guy is wasted talent. He would be the greatest if he had the drive of Kobe or Jordan. He only plays hard when he has/wants to.

I think you are probably right, but look for the Lakers to make some noise in the playoffs if Walton, Odom, Kwame are healthy!

if he isn't, it will be because of BS politics and his image... Kobe is 28 and Jordan didn't win a championship till age 28. Kobe has 3 now and tons of records, accomplishments.

yeah but the argument isn't about shaq. it's about kobe and his selfish play. which is why he will never be considered the greatest.

true but alot of his success came because of the team that he had around him......... yeah 3 rings but not only did he have shaq but he had ron harper , horry , glen rice for 1 year ........... not to take anything away from kobe because hes a great player but hes been on some great teams

Yeah, but take Kobe away from the Lakers and how good would the Lakers be? Probably one of the worst teams. Take out Nash and the Suns would still be good. Not to disrespect Nash, because he's great, but Kobe should be MVP, if MVP is the best player or most valuable to your team. Also, who else has a total game like Kobe, including D? Lebron is great, but only on offense.

ok then todays rules kobe would take wilt i will admit...no big man of any period could ;)

but i can't say kobe is better than jordan because his career stats aren't as good....the best player playing now but not ever.....not off by much but he is behind and stats don't lie....

career fg% 3pt% ft% rbs% asst%
jordan: .497 .327 .835 6.2 5.3
kobe: .452 .338 .837 5.2 5.2

Uh, not true at all, over the last three years the lakers have a better record without Kobe than the Suns do without Nash. Even with all the talent the Suns have, its amazing how they struggle without Nash. I've watched every Suns game this year and when Nash goes out of the game they almost always lose their lead or increase their deficit. Kobe didn't even make the top 50 in the Lenovo stat, which measures team success when different players are on the floor - http://www.nba.com/statistics/lenovo...&split=9&team=

At times they have a similar offensive game. However Kobe has never shown that he can play Jordan's level of defense.

I think Kobe has better and more moves, speed and agility, but I would give Jordan an edge on D. Kobe has made 1st team defense 4 times though and multiple 2nd team appearances. They are both very similar and at least people should be comparing them, because Kobe is that good IMO. He was good when he was 19(though Jordan is so loved that nobody wants to admit this except Mark Jackson) and he has proven to be as good as Mike, better or equal.

The Suns suffer a lot without Nash, but they still are good, where the Lakers without Kobe would be near the bottom of the league. Hollinger stats have Kobe up there for efficiency and I remember seeing a stat last year where he was up there for value to his team.

65, 50, and 60 in three nights, no other player in the league can come close to matching that.

Dallas was just starting to get defense last year, theyve always been known as a sorry ass defensive team. Kobe is a great player but he is nowhere near the complete player Michael Jordan was. Being scoring leader a year or two doesnt make you the greatest NBA player ever. Swing on his nuts a little bit more you might break em lol. Plus the Lakers are barely a .500 team lol.

The Lakers were in the top 5 the first quarter of the season. Then they had 3 starters injured and that is why they lost a lot of games. Now they have their starters back and playing and they are doing well again. Kobe is a complete player. He excels at scoring and clutch, but he didn't make 1st team defense 4 times and 2nd team many times for nothing. He has 3 championships at 28 and people like Mark Jackson say he will be the greatest ever while many stars, including Lebron, Wade, etc etc say he's the best in the league.... and he's got a lot of years left in him.

he's been on fire many times throughout his career, but yeah, damn ... 65, 50 and 60 last 3 games! It's not just scoring either. He can assist well when he has to/wants to, rebound, steal, plays great D, even runs down and blocks shots and clutch! With Odom and Walton healthy, The Lakers are a top 3 team IMO
is that outside Dallas pheniox and detroit wait they are a 6th seed ahead of the clippers for the 8th spot in the west by 4 games .. so right there theres 5 teams better then the lakers just in the west and they are a top 3 team.. they haven't been since shaq left...

i'd put dewayne wade and stoudimire before kobe yeah he scored 65,50,60 but against memphis ( 17-52),minnesota (29,38), and portland (28,40)........ not really defensive teams there huh

Jordan made everyone around him better. Kobe makes himself and only himself better. Lots of skills but not the total package that Jordan was. If Jordan wanted to go out and do it for himself nightly he could have put up Kobe type numbers in today's game. Remember the west these days plays pretty up and down offense and higher scoring games than the east does and more than was put up during most of Jordan's era.

On a side note it was fun to watch the run and gun game tonight. I love watching Memphis these days (I am a fan it should be noted). They dont win a lot but they sure throw them up! Defense is not a term they understand. Love it.

Jordan just had good teammates. Pippen, Rodman, etc. etc. come on... He was mainly a scorer, like Kobe is most of the time. Kobe can assist too though and I like it when he mixes it up more, so it's hard for teams to predict if he'll score a lot or pass a lot on a given night. I admit he should pass more, but man when his fucking team can't catch a pass or make a shot, then he should take over like he has been doing and winning.

Imagine Kobe with Pippen and Rodman in their prime!

Odom and Kwame are not even close. Kobe doesn't really have a second option. He is the second and third option. He has to do a lot himself. The rest of the team just facillitates him.

I miss Rodman!

In about 10 years, everybody will be talking about Kobe as the best basketball player ever... Period...

He just can't be stopped... He will be better then Jordan, if he isn't already...
