How do these torrent sites get away with ignoring 2257? You know that these files have to be hosted on servers somewhere. Not all this shit is p2p'ing off surfers PC's.
Who's servers are pumping this shit out?????????????? |

I was talking to Joan of ACASP at the Amsterdam show about the type of people the FBI are targeting are the type of people who will have the paperwork as near to perfect as possible.
Seems to me that if they were serious about catching someone they would not be going after Wicked and Hustler type companies. |

Torrents = All on users computers. Only the .torrent file is on the servers.

So to go after someone simply because they think the documents aren't in order is not in the law's scope IMO. Assuming the law is used to focus on it's primary intent of protecting children.

the whole basis OF the product is that it ISN'T hosted on a server somewhere, only the torrent file is, which is why it is so cheap to run a torrent search engine and new ones pop up every day
all files are hosted on a users computer and tiny parts are shared each time, which makes it so hard to go after pirates |

But what is the exact process how the first file gets propagated?
I have done my share of P2P marketing with my own servers (with my content) and in time the files get out there on other computers but I also served out a lot of files myself from my own server to start off with. Are you guys telling me that these torrent sites are not doing the same? You know, sort of like DH does if you order a P2P traffic package from him. He takes your files and blasts them out there off his servers for you to get them out there quick. My question is, would torrent sites do the same to get the files out there and get each file started? |

I disagree with you, because in Civil court when you are suing someone and you show that they are not only ripping you off but also breaking a Federal law, well, your case just got stronger my friend. I'm just throwing this shit out there, not saying I'm right or wrong, just looking for an interesting discussion. PS: and all you guys supporting content theft can go suck a dick! |
