Do you change your own oil?
I would say half the time when I'm in a hurry or before a trip I'll pay for the oil change. Other times I"ll do it myself with synthetic.

				 | I mostly do all of my own work. 1 truck, 1 minivan, 4 motorcycles, and 3 quads... I cant stand for another 'mechanic' to touch anything of mine. They are usually incompetant and fuck something up. Having a motorcycle/atv lift in the garage makes it real nice |

				 | If I had a garage with a lift I'd definitely do it myself. And many other things too.

				 | You don't need a lift to change your oil... All you generally will need is: A Socket set A New oil filter An Oil filter wrench (they fit onto a normal socket wrench) An oil pan or something to drain the oil into New oil 1) Open the fill cap, put the oil drip pan under the drain plug under your cars oil pan. Unscrew the oil drain plug. For the love of christ be careful for hot oil. Let the car cool down for 2 hours before doing this just to be safe. When the oil stops coming out, take the drain plug and screw it back on tightly. Not too tightly 2) Remove your oil filter. Watch out, it'll be full of oil. Make sure your gasket (rubber seal between filter and "engine") is still good (not cracked or broken). Put some new oil around the gasket for a good seal, and install the new oil filter by hand, not with the wrench. (you'll stretch the gasket if you use the wrench) 3) Look in your owner's manual to see how much oil you should have in your engine, and then put that much new oil in it. Put the oil fill cap back on. Done. Doesn't take very long to do, and you'll likely be more diligent than your local mechanic. Good luck! Btw... Yes, I change my own oil, and I replace my own brakes, and pretty much anything else that doesn't require a lift. (not many things require a lift)
