If they violated the acceptable use policy, then they can do that.

Besides, it is much better to risk being sued by a spammer than the Feds or one of the big companies!

Good for them. People who use dirty tricks instead of quality content to get traffic hurt the rest of us.

What exactly are they going to get sued for? Making lots of web pages on their own servers? Are you TOTALLY FUCKING RETARDED? The search engines crawl what they want to... no one forces them, or even necessarily invites them to index the pages.

that's the search engines fault. they should just fix their algorithms so relevent sites are listed first.

i can't believe a host would ban someone for SE Spamming. i won't be using ISPime anytmie soon.

We received an abuse complaint and processed it the way we would any other. In this particular instance there were several notifications of abuse including those from Microsoft from NYTimes, as well as bloggers and general surfers. The customer in question in that article was in direct violation of our acceptable use policy and was terminated. As all other hosts are, we are dependent to some degree on complaints from end users who find such abuse. We have absolutely no interest in making any profit off sites that violate our AUP, and will terminate customers who violate our AUP as soon as we are made aware of the situation.

This issue was more than just "google surfing their pages", and involved a very significant amount of blogspam/comment spam/guestbook spam, which is not quite as innocent.

ISPrime has a long track record of being anti-spam, and we consider blogspam to be the same category.

That is beacuse people do pure spam-they post message "check out my site yada yada yada"which is completly unrelated to blog post or guestbook.
It's enough to make related post and you will not be classified as spammer.

No offense, but there's anti-spamming laws setup for email spam such as canspam. I wouldn't categorize blogspam in the same category until ammendments are made or other laws are passed.

This is just another blackhat technique. It's not illegal. But if it's in your AUP I guess it was his own fault.

We don't need laws to tell us what is right and wrong. Spam is spam whether it be email or comment spam.
