Anyone Have A Saltwater Aquarium?

I used to. My husband and I put almost 2k into our 75 gallon starter tank. And with the hellacious move we lost everything because well saltwater shit is delicate. I'd love to start my tank back up again when/if I get the time. I find it very relaxing to pull up a chair and just watch the fish swim about.

Anyone here have a saltwater tank? If so post your pics up. I'd love to see. I got pics of mine somewhere but no idea where the fuck they are.

I've got two tanks, 245gallon and a 300 gallon

I ran across the same problem, i bought a new tank and tried to transfer all my corals to it and pretty much everything died. so it's back to sqare one on the reef tank.

here are a couple pics... the coral tank isn't much of a coral tank anymore... another work in progress

I've had this one running for over ten years now but I don't get to look at it much because people always seem to be in the way

My wife has brought up the idea several times.. but we haven't even had a normal freshwater aquarium. Is that basically a pre-req?

I've heard it's a lot of work, but I haven't really looked into it yet to see exactly HOW much work we're talking about. Daily maintenance? Weekly?

Awesome pictures though, thanks for sharing!

Beautiful tank..... I know what you mean. Chad and I were going to add live coral but the woman at the salt water place advised against it because we were just started out and coral is VERY delicate stuff. So she suggested and we settled for live rock. When you first get the live rock it's pretty plain and boring..But over time ours grew all these neat purple pink and blue things on it. It was so cool watching it morph into something so beautiful.

We had a coral banded shrimp that we named Jaques and a Clownfish we named Hutch. We also had a Brittel starfish and his name was Starsky. Hence Starsky and Hutch. It was around the time the movie came out and it just came out and stuck.

Well Chad was cleaning the tank while the shrimp was molting. We didn't know it at the time. And Jaques got scared and ran off and died on us. Then Starsky's legs fell off and all was left was nubs.

We even called the salt water lady up and she said bring the food to him etc. And we did all we could do but unfortunately he met an intimely demise. We looked everywhere to find him and nothing. We never really knew what happened to him. We think he just shriveled away and died as well.

Hutch the clownfish was a real trooper. He lived in a tiny 3 gallon tank after the move (entirely too long of a story) for awhile and toughed it out. And just a few days before we were ready to move him back into his tank he died as well. What a fucking bummer.

But I don't want to get a dog or cat really because even though they are cool. I have allergies that area bitch and just don't wanna deal with stinky ass litter boxes and taking dogs out and puppy training etc.

I saw at a pet shop they had an Octopus for sale. Who fucking would buy an Octopus? Certain things they just shouldn't sell. They get as big as they eat.
It's bad enough we recreate their natural environment with tanks.

And you shouldn't over crowd your tank. I was told like 3 to 4 fish or what have you to a 75 gallon. No more. I'd love to get some trigger fish.. They're so neat...

I want to start again but afraid of making the investment and failing once again. I couldn't take it a 2nd time. It's so much work but very rewarding. Gotta mix the salt check this check that. Can't mix certain fish with other fish because they will fight and eat one another.
