Scaling and Root Planing - GoFuckYourself.com

Anyone ever heard of this shit? Just got back from the dentist that I haven't been to in years and he told me I should get this done. It's $800. Not to mention it takes 2 two hour sessions. Basically they dig underneath your gums to clean crap out. Never had a cavity and my teeth are "strong" according to him.

Is this some bullshit dentist crap that is a ripoff?

OK, my experience only ;)

Approx 15 years ago I had dental insurance where you went to a place that was basically a "doc in the box" type place - never saw the same dentist twice, they came up with all kinds of extra crap to oversell, etc.

I was told I needed my teeth scaled and a crown replaced.

I didn't do either.

My REAL dentist that I have now has NEVER recommended scaling, and the crown's still there

Thanks, it sounds like a bunch of BS. I'm fairly young so I don't think I have to worry too much about gum disease. I don't mind spending money on my teeth, but that's a lot for something I've never heard of.

I can't tell you whether you need it or not.. but i can tell you this:

That was one of the toughest things I've ever had to undergo. They go DEEP in your f'ing gums, around every tooth. I struggled through it.. seriously. Nightmare procedure

They said they'd numb me up and I wouldn't feel a thing. Were you under anything?
