ICANN Terminates RegisterFly.com

... Registrar Accreditation Agreement

quote:
ICANN today issued a formal notice of termination of RegisterFly.com's Registration Accreditation Agreement (RAA).

ICANN has issued a letter to RegisterFly [PDF, 902K] indicating that it will cease operating as an ICANN-Accredited Registrar on March 31, 2007. Under the terms of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), ICANN must provide 15 days written notice to RegisterFly of its intention to terminate.

Effective immediately ICANN has terminated RegisterFly's right to use the ICANN Accredited Registrar logo on its website.

Between now and 31 March RegisterFly is required to unlock and provide all necessary Authinfo codes to allow domain name transfers to occur. Any and all registrants wishing to transfer away from RegisterFly during this period should be allowed to do so efficiently and expeditiously.

"Terminating accreditation is the strongest measure ICANN is able to take against RegisterFly under its powers," Dr. Paul Twomey, President and CEO of ICANN said today.

"ICANN has been frustrated and distressed by recent management confusion inside RegisterFly," Dr. Twomey, President said. "I completely understand the greater frustration and enormous difficulty that this has created for registrants."

so, icann made sure they acted right, they never did

so, now icann says they are not allowing registerfly to use their name on the site anymore, and registerfly all the sudden is going to make everything work?

seems like kind of a silly request

"hey, we are going to beat you up on march 31st, but can you make sure you stand on main st at 8pm that night so I don't have to find you?"

Ahh, I read the court case, that medina guy was sucking the funds out of their bank account to pay his 10k/m rent, 6k liposuction, etc etc etc wasnt paying enom, their monthly registration fee's personally pocketing the money.. causing reserved registrations to fail...

Definately looks like he had enuff and was milking what he could from company before moving on.

Looks like it was some kids, with very bad lawyers on top of it, the complaints were so pre-school like and probably what cost him the case, asked for too much with nothign but demeaning complaints. Evin the Medina termination letter looks childesh.

Oh well... take it as a laugh, a insight to how business is being run these days and be careful with your investments lol

registerfly has done NOTHING to help anyone, and the ONLY thing saving people up until now was that ICANN would step in and make shit right (hopefully).....now icann is just pulling out all tgeother with no mention of what will happen to the hundreds of thousands of domains still in registerfly

my guess is that registerfly will continue to rip people off right up until that march 31st deadline, then just pack up and run

When the Agreement is terminated, ICANN can approve a bulk transfer of all current RegisterFly domain names to another ICANN accredited Registrar.

"Of course, RegisterFly does not have to wait till then. They can request ICANN to approve a bulk transfer immediately. I call on RegisterFly to act in the interests of registrants and seek such a transfer from us straight away," Dr. Twomey said.

this does not mean that ICANN will transfer all the domains to another registrar after March 31st?

no, it means they are possibly thinking about it, but haven't made up their mind

they NEED to, but don't have to

I am crossing my fingers hoping they do the right thing, but I have no faith left in anyone that isn't in my inner circle

but this brings me back to another point I had AGAIN....why hasn't some registrar stepped in and said "hey, transfer all your domains to us for free"?

icann is possibly going to do that anyway and force a registrar to take them all on, someone needs to step up real quick and beat icann to the punch for that money

gonna take a civil lawsuit to get them to act, they are walking away, its plain and simple, the half owner sued the other half owner and lost everything, the medina guy has walked away and he is the sole owner now....

Civil lawsuit might wake up medina to get shit done so he don't risk serious fines of some law of failing to provide services paid for to some degree, find a lawyer and start the case on behalf of all clients, hopefully get assets frozen etc
