you calmed me down when they showed up and indeed factory battery.

changed it out...the engine light still came on..but they can reset it when i take the car over

i have a 99 bmw 528, the check engine light have been going off and on for the past 3 years.. when i bring it in they say there is a sensor in the transmission setting it off, and that there is nothing wrong, just ignore the check engine light..apparently the sensors in bmws are very sensitive..
It is one of the most expensive cars to service..i'd guess close to mercedes and audi..oh yeah the electrical motors used to bring the windows up and down always fail right after the factory warranty, i have had to replace all of mine, and they come as an assembly, meaning they cant sell you just the broken part, but rather the entire mechanism..

Great now take it back and get a 540, 3.0's are for wimps

everytime someone posts shit like this it makes me laugh... "omg it doesn't work, i want my money back, omg,omg!"... first of all you ain't ganna get your money back thats for sure... second of all you need to do your homework before you buy, alot of used dealers get cars that been in accidents, flooded, repaired, roll back milage, auctions, all types of sh!t... you always need to ask for service history (they can print it out from bmw dealership), then you need to go pay $300 and inspect it to see in what kinda shape the car is, and AVOID private dealerships, search for private sale so you can see previous owner... anyways, there's alot more you can do but im too lazy to type it, my point is know your shit before you buy....

xlogger 03-16-2007 06:25 PM

O man, you bought a 2003? Bad choice dude.

Did you read consumer report on 03's? They have a lot of electrical problems. Dont buy 023 bimmers, trust me on this one. If you go to a bmw dealer you will see a lot of 03's on the lof. Its because no one wants them.

Engine light : needs to be plugged to the computer for diagnostic....

I just got a friends car fixed : wiring harness ....

I have a 3 series...1) never buy a high end car from another dealer other then that make. theres a reason why they wholesale them. 2) the 5's are known for electrical problems. 3) i hope u have a warranty. i couldnt get one, now i need a $2900 computer. BMW is a tough car to own used. Ohh, I'm a dealer BTW...GL with it.

BOSS1 03-16-2007 09:03 PM

Calm down and dont listen to retards make sure to do a tune up and change oil ASAP.... the car will last u a while... it is a bit big on the milage for the age but the e39 fivers are solid cars...make sure to use synthetic oil... u take care of it and it will take care of u
