				 | New Document posted on ICANN website re. .XXX - final decision in 10 days ??? Responce from Vint Cerf, ICANN Board Chairman to Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi, Chairman of GAC (Government Advisory Committee) letter in PDF so I can't quote it, but it suggests that a final decision regarding .XXX can be expected at the public ICANN meeting in Lisbon, 26-30 March http://icann.org/correspondence/cerf...ns-14Mar07.pdf

				 | I see its on the agenda for Lisbon but dunno about a final decision. Does it seem to anyone else that ICANN is waiting to see what GAC's decides? Just musing but if the adult industry started it's own business committee (who are representative of the community) it would make sense that ANY outside body would be forced to work with them on issues such as this. I know I've suggested it before and gotten slammed but .... well it seems obvious that it would've come in handy here.

				 | Now that ICANN has been alerted to the fact that webmasters don't want this, I just can't see how they would vote to approve .XXX at this point. I mean I suppose anything is possible when politics are in the equation, but I was heartened by the minutes of their last discussion on .XXX and feel that since they are paying attention, it will be EASY to see the level of opposition and lack of support. Let's hope this issue FINALLY goes away. |

Their definition of sponsored community, only includes WMs that want .XXX as a TLD. The rest of us don't count in their eyes.

Consider this .. if the adult industry DID have such a committee, that committee's voice would have shot ICM's application down from the start as it represents their 'sponsored community'.

that's not true.. FSC represents over 3,000+ webmasters who are their members, and have been very vocal against .XXX If you are not an FSC member, then your statement is true.. .you don't have a figurehead committee that voices your concern. The 'sponsored community' has been defined in the application as basically any adult webmaster that wants labeling and wants .XXX This is how ICM is pushing ICANN to adopt .XXX because it claims it passed the definition of the community, because there are supposedly 24 companies in adult that wrote in support and over 1,500 adult webmasters writing to them (yeah right), and over 76,000 domains pre-registered (they didn't disclose how many were unique businesses signing up and also, those were done as defensive moves, not to be counted as voting of a yes). The latest ICM documents to ICANN are up there to try and discredit the opposition to show that only a few are causing noise, and that they do have some level of representation. There is opposition work going on.. and FSC is definitely involved. Fight the 411!

				 | I understand what you are saying Brandon and the FSC is an awesome group - but the truth of the matter is that the FSC represents Freedom of Speech. Although many of its members are from the adult industry, the entity is not limited to voicing for the adult industry alone. What I'm saying is there needs to be an adult industry leadership committee that is solely developed for the furtherment of 'adult'. Of course the two working together would be an added bonus. Nobody here is trying to rain on the FSC group's valant efforts.

i understand your point, but other than FSC, there isn't much other hope for cohesiveness.. the popular phrase "herding cats" will come up. Ironically, ICM/IFFOR is saying what you are asking for.. They are saying that they would represent interests of adult since they believe they would have a large number of companies using .XXX that gives them a larger number of constituents to show to whomever (congress, visa, mc, etc). But the problem with that pipe dream, is that the majority vote on IFFOR does not belong to adult, so the expectation that non-adult people will know what's best for adult?!?!?1 Fight the .XXX!
