I suppose the rio carneval just didnt happen, and oz fest was a thing of the past.

stop smoking that crack, its a new subject that is pointless.

and theres no need to call me a fucking retard (even if i am on the wrong tracks), but hey, strangley thats what i expected from you. :Oh crap

The rio carneval probably have 10 events manager working for them today.

You're fucking stupid... keep sig whoring.

Learning from your mistakes is gonna be very long in this business, because there are so many you can do...

working for somebody else without a degree aiin't gonna pay you shit.

Starting a business when you know what you're doing can be very profitable, but you can't afford to make mistakes.

This is a cut troath business. You can make a big event and totally fail (and loose really big) or succeed. Only a couple mistakes make the difference. You can't make mistakes... and trust me, If I gave you the task to organise one of our weekly events (filling a bar and taking care of the promo0, you would miserably fail at one level or another.

well ok having read this through, i may have been a bit out of line and the day and age we live in now where people expect so much and if the tinyiest thing goes wrong they go whining off, then maybe it needs to be done so well.

for example this quote

But how many big big events are there? when so many are taking the subject up and down the country?

therefor it cant just be the big events like the music festivals in reading, but the small ones, which really do not need someone with a degree.

apologies too all i upset with my ignorance.

A show like a rolling stone show can take up to 6 months work for a promoter and couple employes to setup.

There are dozens of big shows going on daily in north america.

Every sports events you're watching on TV... 25 000 people in an arena dosen't happen magically.

You're fucking stupid.

wow thanks alot, but this thread actully had a split some opinion , some said they agreed and some didnt, i also asked some friends and also got a split opinion but no "dr dre" who thinks hes the hardest mother fucker around comes in guns blazing calling me all the names under the sun, really bashing the keyboard down :winkwink: on gfy only dr dre's opinion counts, we must bow down to the big know it all ;) just kidding.

sig whoring? take a look at your post count, I will never reach that amount in my twenties i will have a life.

I dont exactly know what i did to you, maybe you hate me because your friend nowhere hates me, pitty you cant make up your own opinion. but it seems you really have a stick up your ass when replying to me. always bad vibes.

now i wonder if i could reply to you without you being the tough guy losing your temper and insulting me? can you do it?

my point was "events management" is a relativly new subject and all these new festivals and games havent just appeard in the last few years have they?
no rolling stones concerts have been going on 30+ years (they still pulled phenominal amounts of numbers)

now im not arguing with you that it takes alot of time to prepare, those events i couldnt do, even with employees, what im saying is why do you have to go to university to prepare for 3 years in a subject which can be done with time and preparation and common sense.

no wait this thread was pointless, i make a good point and i will get a reply saying "stfu sigwhore dumbass" simply because i hate your friend nowhere :) impressive dr dree, impressive :pimp

you didn't need a journalism degree in the past to work for a newspaper yet newspapers were still produced. yet today good luck even getting the lowliest job at a newspaper in the shittiest town without a degree.

standards have changed, business is more complex, job market competition is harder and on and on.

walk away from the computer and get a life because you sure the fuck aren't learning shit sigwhoring all day. :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents:

scottybuzz 03-15-2007 12:43 PM

yes but a rolling stones concert 20 years ago today is similar as it is now, yes newspapers have got far more complex, but all a degree shows is that your better than the rest.

personally If i was hiring would employ a good all round cool headed person, rather than someone who has a degree in events management, so i could then use that person for others jobs etc.

ps. pornojew who are you?

wow im still shocked at dr dres responces, i didnt know some 18 year old punk could wind someone like that :Oh crap listen dr dre gfy is gfy, but if you have serious isses with me, hit me up icq 194484460, serious man, going off like that at someone wow :helpme .

i for one love meltdowns on forums, but please, :Oh crap

scottybuzz, you must've misunderstood, EVENT MANAGEMENT is normally a course that business students take. There's also an advanced course and I'm sure you can do a thesis on it, but I seriously doubt it that there's any sane university out there teaching event management for three years...

Agreed, I had to take an events management course in college also.

I'm pretty sure I slept through it though.
