Anyone here install their LCD on the wall?

I just purchased one for my office and want to hang it on the wall. Did you do it yourself or did you hire someone in to hide the wires etc etc?

Also, all the mounts at best buy are very expensive compared to the ones on Ebay. Does anyone know why this is?

I would hire a professional. I want to put my new LCD on the wall also, there is no way I would do it myself, this way when it falls, I can blame someone else. ;)

They have wall mounts at Costco too, the price is usually dependent on the size of the TV it needs to hold and whether or not the mount has a swing arm and can be set at different angles. The cheaper ones may just be static mounts.

Built it into the wall myself...Not mounted on...built in.

In fact, I built the entire wall as well.

We bought all the mounting bracket shit you need but our wall is concrete so we decided to buy a hutch instead. They do have these really nifty looking cable minders that kinda look like scrunchies to help hide the wires.

I did mine. 47" LG, over 100 lbs. I got the mount from standsandmounts.com

I think it's a 1 man operation that does drop shipping, but the dude was way more helpful and knowledgable than the local best buy idiot.

Anyway, my son in law hung from the mount before we put the tv on it. It's solid, just make sure you anchor into the studs. Cut the holes in the walls to hide the cables, used a fish tape, real easy, if you a do it yourself kind of guy. Personally, I love Home Depot, so I really loved the opportunity to do it.

Whatever you do, do NOT cheap out on the wall mount. you will most definitely regret it later. I did it myself, just Google some tutorials on it. An installation company will what a ridiculous amount for something pretty straight forward.

3 of different sizes on the wall ...

Ebay ( items like Sanus ) are cheaper because they are return or open boxes .... Well worth the saving ... Sometimes, a few regular screws or nouts are missing .. no big deal.

Anyone who hires someone to install has never picked up a screwdriver in their life.

www.monoprice.com pick up their mounts, get it installed under 15minutes. Simple. If you want read the reviews for them.

I installed 4 of them in my house and never had a problem. 3 are flat mounts and 1 of them has an arm extension.

No big deal. Just depends how mechanically inclined you are.

I actually found it more difficult dealing with the cocksmokers at the cable company on the telephone upgrading my service to HD.

If you have some basic skills you can do it yourself. the brackets are big enough to hit beams and hiding the wires is just a matter of making a hole or two in the wall that you can patch up and paint over. I've installed all 5 in my house without any issues. just think real hard about what type of things you'll be hooking to it and make sure you run everything you need or may need the first time. you don't want to have to re-snake lines later.

You'll want to have the electrical outlet placed behind the TV so you don't have to see the cord hanging down. You'll probably need an electrician for that.

As for the mounting, that is very easy. Just make sure you have a stud finder and a decent drill. I suck at doing stuff like that and I was able to do it easily.
