I haven't started a thread in forever...but I thought I'd make post #100 a good one. This actually happened today...

As many of you know, my wife is pregnant...VERY pregnant. 39 weeks today and due next Friday, the 16th. She has had several episodes of false labor, which have totally kicked her ass silly, and basically just wants to deliver NOW, if you know what I mean.

So, anyway, today was her weekly doctor's appointment. After a careful and uncomfortable exam, doc said she will definitely be going into labor sometime "in the next few days."

Problem: Doc is leaving town tomorrow (Friday) afternoon and won't return until Tuesday. So he wrote my wife a "prescription" to take to the local hospital so she could check in and have labor induced TONIGHT at 6pm.

My wife took one look at the doctor and said, "Nope...I can wait until you get back...my husband is going to be at Internext for the weekend so this weekend is not good for us!"

Doc tore it up and wrote a new prescription for her to be admitted and induced on Tuesday...provided she doesn't go into labor herself prior to then.

What a woman!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the normal gestation for a human 9 months, or 36 weeks? She is 3 weeks late? WOW.

Hey Labret...yes, but there are actually 4.3 weeks in a month...otherwise the calendar year would have 13 months and not 12

Gestation is 40 weeks. The reason everyone says 9 months is because by the time most women KNOW they are pregnant it has already been a few weeks and 9 months (36 weeks) isn't all that far off.

Wow, Zayne. She IS a fab girl! If I get to being as close as she is and can say the same I will consider myself a heroine! I'm only 15 and a bit weeks now (remember those days?) and I'm already thinking that 40 weeks is gonna be too long!!!

It goes by SO fast Beatiepoo...I remember her being unhappy with the heat here in May and her saying she'll never make it to August...that seemed like yesterday. We were talking last night and couldn't believe it was only a week or so away. We thought it was going to be Monday this week...but after 12 hours of 40 minute interval contractions she just quit. She was pissed off, to say the least

Hopefully she'll last the weekend...otherwise that blinding flash of a guy scrambling off the convertion floor will be me

LOL - She keeps me in line...she told me I was going even if she does go into labor (I wouldn't, of course ).

I realize it sounds funny...but the convention is near by and we have a support system in place. It's all good
