HELP ... Corrupted CP card!!!

Help...

Any one know how to extract Images from a corrupted CP card??? Odd thing is that while I was shooting I was able to playback my Pics in the camera ... I pulled out the cp card and placed it in my reader .. when I did this my PC shut down ???!!!??? I don't know hwat the hell happened ..I've tryed three other readers on three different PCs with out success .. I tryed to play back the images on the original camera (nikon D100) no go .. I even tryed to view the pics with my D200, no go iether! .. Lastly I loaded Nikon Viewer with the hopes that the softare would be able to see the images .. No Go ! ...

Help please .. I've since reshot the scene but there were a few pics that the model looked absolutely awesome in and we weren't able to recreate the look ... Please please please ... Are there any guru's out there that know how to retreive the pics off the CP card???

Thanking you all in advance

when you plug the reader into the computer with the card in it, does it see a drive?

if so, you could run scandisk on the cf card and see what is up

Also GetDataBack for FAT will do the job. It's designed for hard drives, but CF cards use the same file structure as hard drives, and it's the most reliable tool I've ever used, both on flash memory cards as well as hard drives. You can download a free copy from runtime.org and see what it can find on the card, then if you're satisfied, buy the registration code to actually copy the files.

I call sandisk the makers of the CF cards I use .. This particular card was the Extreme III wich is suppose to be part of they're pro line. Anyhow the dude at the other end told me that they sell the cards with a recovery software .. I've bought at least 3 of these cards in the last year and never saw or got a recovery software disc with them ... anyone have?

I was amazed at how good these recovery programs are. It recovered 4 pic sets (the cards been reformatted at least three times!)

very cool

I use PhotoRescue when I need to recover from a CF card.

The problem most likely started by pulling the card from the camera too soon after the last shot.

CF cards use the normal FAT32 file system found in Windows 98SE. The last thing written to disk every time is the File Allocation Table (FAT).... basically it is an index of where on the disk each file starts and stops.

If you pull the card just a millesecond before the system is done writting the FAT, you lose that index.

The image or file data can be there (on the floppy, HD or CF card), but without the FAT (index) the computer doesn't know where to find it.

Photo Rescue and other such software often find the previous FAT on the card and uses it to creat a new one, or it simply finds a file, follows all bits of it and then the next, until it recovers all it can.

Well worth the investment.

Good Luck

Yep, I purchased an Extreme III about 18 months ago, and it came with a mini CD (which I quickly lost, lol). It also came with a little pouch/bag that stores two CF cards.
