Moving servers, should have taken about 2-5 hours max :error

Master_Yoba 03-09-2007 06:17 AM

macmark 03-09-2007 06:18 AM

I would have tolerated up to 12 hours downtime for server move, but more than 36 hours is just really bad business management.

server migration by c00pa - example how fast and easy lost customers

redfrog 03-09-2007 06:55 AM

what most annoying me , is that there is no one to speak with , no one let us know what is wrong , and the current status.
2 days ago i was having a chat with david , the man behind hahahahahaha :

i asked how they backup my server , incase anithing go's wrong , and he told me that they have a payed service , that will save my data in other server for 1gb=2$ ,
i was amazed that my hhd cant be recovered fast cause they dont backup it , unless i order that service.
isnt it a must have? why my HDD isnt in a mirror method? what if one of them tech guy somehow delete my data? how do they will recover the HDD?

DAMM....

Winterverse 03-09-2007 07:07 AM

Well with some servers coming back up there may be a public response soon as to what was happening.

Hello,

I have sent a notice to our crews on site and have asked them to take a look at your servers. Hopefully they will be brought back online very shortly. Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks again for your continued patience.

peterman22 03-09-2007 09:36 AM

they should back to the old place, when they lose 50% customers they not need new place :(

Phil21 03-09-2007 09:39 AM

Good luck to everyone affected, I wish you guys only the best! I have to say I am surprised this migration was handled so badly by them, as previously I hadn't heard anything overtly wrong over there aside from the usual background noise.

Master_Yoba 03-09-2007 10:10 AM

any news?
we are still waiting for some of our servers coming back

Good point. Someone's earlier post sounded like that was all they needed to do.

Winterverse 03-09-2007 04:26 PM

Winterverse 03-09-2007 04:35 PM

I got all mine back now but when they came back sometimes NAMED , FTP or Mysql isn't working

I guess it maybe where they are booted without being properly connected and the stuffs started up but can't bind or something

anyways I would check everything

s9ann0 03-09-2007 04:36 PM

I certainly hope service is restored soon, situations like this affect many livelihoods.

Brad,

You never stop to amaze me how classy you are props to you my friend. :thumbsup

Master_Yoba 03-09-2007 06:00 PM

still have issues with some of our servers and one server is not back online
our local network is not restored
the nightmare has never ended

Snake Doctor 03-09-2007 06:44 PM

Wow that's insane, I think my head would explode if my sites were down for that long.

Were customers given advance notice about this? Or you just found out they were moving when you noticed your sites were down?
