i've had way better reliability both with connectivity and speed with my DSL compared to the cable modem. just depends on service, area, all that jazz.

sure, if my cable got lucky it could burst faster than my 1.5 adsl, but my dsl is more consistent and i can always get 150k or more per second through my DSL.. my cable would go from 20k-120k and sometimes i couldn't even make a socket connection anywhere it got so lagged. i got a static IP too with this DSL, which not many cable companies will allow nowadays.

Does anyone here ever use Roadrunner and have trouble connecting on-line? I have the hardest time getting on line, the only thing I can do sometimes to get on-line is to re-start my pc 20 times or so...

No, I'm in Garden Grove. I'm not sure why I'm using Roadrunner It sure beats aol though when I can get on-line, it's fast, just having a hard time getting on-line. I always get "This Page Cannot Be Displayed", and then I shut down my pc and unplug all the cords, let it rest for 5 min and re-start everything and it still won't work. I can't release or renew my ip either. That's why most of the time I don't shut my pc down anymore, I just leave it on all day...But sometimes it gets frozen and I have to reboot |

I think Roadrunner IS cable. But no, I haven't had DSL ever, so I can't make a comparison. My isp before Roadrunner was aol dial-up , I've used aol for over a year even though they have cable and dsl where I live for a while now, because I was too lazy to have it installed |

weird again. When I'm having problems getting on-line I always get error messages when renewing/releasing my ip. I get " DHCP server is currently unavailable" or something like that. Anyways, I'm moving in a few days, so perhaps it will work better at my new house or something... who knows... |
