i get inquiries all the time from the mainstream sector to build or rebuild networks because the mainstream market knows that much of the technology that they use on the web today started in the adult sector. maybe its jsut that i hang out with the young 20-30 somethings that are running and making decisions in the companies that hire me, but i have found 0 issues with anyone caring about adult. many of them so far have thought its cool. i'm starting a new project next week for a wealth advisement and estate trust company to redo their entire web presence and internal network and they love it that we are so deeply involved in technology in our area of work. granted my "whiz kids" are going to do most of the work and they are college graduates, but i am the point man and own the new company. with the adult thing i put it out there right in the front. i think the issue is do you try to hide it and look like you're hiding something or do you know how to "sell" it to the mainstream market? try it out. sell your adult experience from a technology leader angle and watch their eyes light up. i've had no issues with anyone caring whatsoever. i wont be announcing the mainstream technology company to the adult space. something to fall back on when i get sick of this cesspool of an industry. :1orglaugh |
YNOT Bob and Rochard are swapping positions.
You heard it here. ;) |

gotcha. wasn't sure if thats what you meant. people that want to go into those "holier than god" positions like sales reps and marketing people for stuffy mainstream companies may have issues. i do agree on that :thumbsup |

We get calls all the time from people wanting to work with us even with full knowledge of adult. Anyone thinking that history presents a problem should attend Ad Tech, much like we do. Porn isn't the issue. If you are a professional business savvy person with experience in critical areas, you are needed. It is all about the people running the company. |

I don't wear pants to mainstream meetings with prospective clients, and if they have a problem with that, then I figure it wasn't going to work out anyway. ADG Webmaster |

for the meeting with the wealth advisement trust company i was wearing camo shorts and my oc cash wifebeater basketball jersey. i got the contract. go figure. i'm a weird animal though. if i can't be me 100%, i won't work with someone. thats why i love shane's world. they don't tell me anything. i accomplish my goals and handle business and they leave me alone. it actually has me contemplating staying here indefinitely instead of doing their rebuild for them and moving onto the next big project. :thumbsup :) |

I still get phone calls to this day, nearly a year later. There is a company down the street from our office that is in Adult. They have grown as of late and we actually have issues hiring people because their brand has grown to something of an iconic level and people flock to them for the opportunity to work for them. Their name is Google. |
We had a guy at Sprint who wore motorcycle leather every day (and rode a motorcycle to work - it wasn't just a "look" ;) ) while the rest of us were wearing suits. But he was a genius tech guy. I think they would have let him work naked or wearing a diaper :) But they DID put him in an office 2 floors down from our "control room" that we showed current and prospective clients.

good luck in the future.. hope we will see you soon :)

mainstream and adult are melding, theres no doubt about that. theres lots of examples of mainstream companies getting involved with adult. porn isn't a 4 letter word anymore if you know how to play the game. can you do me a favor? go over there, prop your feet up on jerry yangs desk (yes, i know he works in the mt. view office: but for the sake of funnies), and ask him to write an opposition letter to ICANN about .xxx. lol. :1orglaugh |
Best of luck Roc!!

RocHard is one of those amazing characters that will always be looking for whats best for his family and those webmasters who trust themselves to his care. I have the greatest amount of respect for him and no doubt he is moving into something that will be worthy of his abilities and talents.
Love ya man - keep in touch. |
Rochard is good people. It is tough working for anyone, I could never do it. Thankfully, I have never had to.
|
Best of luck to you Rochard. I can't wait to see where you have landed :)
|
Hmm I thought there was recent news that PB recently restructured their entire online/adult.com business as they were losing business shares in the market ?
|
Roc,
Best of luck on whatever comes next. I am sure it will be a winner :) |
If I know anything, I know that Rochard will land on his feet, running fast.
