Don't buy a stupid Pentium D
They run hotter than hell and won't cool off for anything
I tried three aftermarket coolers with artic silver and it still runs 70C

I have proper case fans and even added a wind tunnel to the side of it so the cpu fan sucks in fresh cool air
A couple weeks ago it was 2F outside,
I opened up the windows turned the heat off got it down to 10F in here and then it finally went down to an ultra cool 40C and my computer worked real well then

The Core 2 Duos run much cooler, and have much better performance. More instructions per clock cycle and shared cache go a LONG LONG way.

Spend a little more and get your money's worth

Got a Core 2 Duo here on an IBM Thinkpad T60. Fast, silent, efficient and cool. Was messing with power readings today and noticed it only pulls 30 watts.

Core 2 Duo chips each have separate caches for each core...

that sucks I remember I had an old cyrix P166 machine at university and if I had the heaters on it'd overheat and reboot all the time so I had to sit in the cold to use it properly!
