it amazes me that people expect 1000s of hits from blogs directories, these aren't tgps, mine's number 2 on google for "adult blogs", if you have a decent regularly updated blog what better way there is for a surfer to find and bookmark youComment

do you require a link in the sidebar of my blog?
my issues is with 1000 blog directories all requiring a link in the sidebar, and my link on their site eventually ends up on a page buried in the site, no one ever sees it and it has no pr and no traffic
yours may be different, sure, but at least with social bookmarking if my story is good it stays near the front page
since blogging is such an "active" format of promotion,p blog directories need to step it up a notch and make their directories more "active" instead of just links on a page
ideas:
-rss powered front page that updates hourly with new articles in the rss feeds of blogs in it's directory
-traffic in/traffic out (trading per day).....I send you traffic so I get traffic back and vice versaComment

actually, that is just mine, and I didn't say it because I wanted to have an intelligent discussion without sounding like a spammer for my site
porndiggity is doing well, but there are like 40 sites I am submitting to that are kicking ass, adulse.com is AMAZING...I got featured on their front page a few weeks back and got 1000 extra uniques a day for like 4 days
no blog directory has ever sent thatComment

Blog directories can no way send out that many hits a day. I think directories are mainly used by the smaller and newer sites, well thats what I have noticed with my directory anyway, I guess its a start for people and just get their link out there. Social bookmarking is very cool though, thinking of starting one up my self.
