Drake 03-06-2007 11:42 AM

Dr. Dre supposedly will be releasing his long awaited 3rd album soon. Will be interesting to see what it sounds like.

"... just give me one more platinum plaque, then fuck rap, you can have it back" - Dr. Dre on Forgot about Dre released in 2000.

there is no room for racism in this thread - thats not what it was about.

keep in mind the article did say that the majority of those who purchase rap music are white youth.

What bothers me about white youths is that they use the difficult life of the black community as a fashion statement or ego boost. They know nothing of what it means to be black, outside of they think its cool and you get laid. Sure white youth have problems, any race does. Just don't use someone elses troubled life to benefit your own or dress like you know or can relate. I can only imagine how much of an insult it is for the black community to see white youth dress/act and speak like they are from the hood when in fact they are only doing it for appearances and develop some sort of attitude/ego and fashion statement.

You guys are right, rap is slowly but surely dying,it isn`t what it used to be in the 80 - mid 90. Maybe it will strike back in 10-15 years...

Z 03-06-2007 12:14 PM

Good riddance...

Good rap died a long time ago...it's time for something new.

Jason AO Movies 03-06-2007 12:42 PM

Music is always evolving and moving and changing and sometimes goes in cycles...rap is no different...something breaks through, then others move in to that area and it starts to become oversaturated...it happened with hair metal, grunge, death metal, etc. and now it's happening to rap...

I'm not a rap fan at all, but can't ignore the millions of albums sold...so rap will go through a big cycle and comeback in a little different form, then the process will start over...

Funny how people like you are just looking for excuses to scream racism and start fights. Fucking racist punk. Whatever you are waiting for...i hope the first one to settle something will settle something in your racist face. Like a big fist.

Sad, but yet kind of funny.

give me one example of the music you are talking about that should be soooo different then the shit dropping now ?

I was thinking of people like KRS-One, or Common, Mos Def, or even Public Enemy. Most of this stuff was more socially conscience that the stuff that's around today.

I'm not saying that everything that comes out now is about gang banging and riding on "dubs" and bling, but the sad reality is that the majority of it is. Especially if you put on BET...what are you exposed to? What it boils down to is what the media gives us exposure to. If the radio and TV show these new rappers talking about pimps and cars and shooting things then the majority of the population are going to assume that is what rap has evolved into.

It is the music industry in general that is to blame. Look at any genre targeted at youth. Bands or people last an album or two and then they are yesterday?s news. You really think that Britney is going to make a come back? Music is no longer timeless. I guarantee people are not going to be sitting around in 20 years with their kids or friends listening to their favorite Sum 41 album or their favorite Snoop Dog album. Music today just doesn't have the staying power it used to in my opinion...but I digress.

My point was that the older rappers, the originators had a message and were fighting against something or someone that was oppressing them, they had a purpose and if they got paid for it then good. Today guys you've never heard of drop their first single and they already have millions of dollars behind them like they have been in the game for decades. Anyways, the point is that rap is dead or dying a slow at the hands of mass media because they think they found "the" formula to make quick money and now they are replicating it like crazy and shoving it down our throats.

oh and by the way...when it comes to whit rappers I prefer Vanilla Ice. :winkwink:

You're such a silly crybaby.

It's like you are secretly in love with me and have to mention my name to get attention or someting. You act like a jilted lover dude.
It's fucking sad because you must have some really terrible circustances in your life to make you behave the way you do.

The guy responed to your post and you had to post like 4 times to reply to it like you lost your mind or something.

If I wanted to make my screen name a very high search term then all I have to do is post "Fuck you Franck" once a day and you will then make 20 threads with my screen name in it. It's like you have no control over your anger and your anger is usually about the most simplest of things that other people simply ignore.

BTW: How old are you?

I understand that you don't like rap, but I don't understand why you care that it exist to the point that you need it to go away.

I don't like much rock and roll, but I don't care how much rock music is out there. I have a dial on my radio and change the station.

Want to see more 'mature' rap?

We have 2 studios here in town, and our artists (for the most part) pride themselves on having a more positive message.

Rap is EVERYWHERE and I want it gooooone

You need to get off of interracialtoons case when you constantly harrass him for saying "racist" things and then flipping off at the mouth yourself and then saying you're not being racist yourself..

Rap is dying because all of the best artists are dead, take any music genre today and kill off the top artists

2pac
biggie
big L
big pun

and it will never be the same. these guys set the bar high and now they are all gone and no one has come into their place, and probably never will.

99% of music today is just quickly packaged up and shit out there.

and it will not die because:

A) rock sucks
B) dance music sucks

websiex 03-06-2007 03:12 PM

I don't care if it completely dies... just as long as it is out of the mainstream and I don't have to hear it all of the time.. I mean, I'd rather Christian rock or hymns than cRap...

As explained in a post after that. Show me some chinese retards acting like monkees and i will call them apes too. Its not my fault that retarded imbecile little john looks like something inbetween a caveman and an early ape. Cant i mention that because he is black without being called a racist?

MetaMan 03-06-2007 05:12 PM

Franck your back peddling skills are very poor. :2 cents: :1orglaugh

Dirty F 03-06-2007 05:15 PM

Seriously, i'd love to hear that interracialtoons guy talk with his black friends about white people. The words he'd use. I can guarantee you it wont be too nice. But hey, lets all accept that because he is black? No fuck that. He is a 100% racist period.

And you know what, i hardly give a shit about that. The fact that he denies it AND acts as if every white person is out to get him that is what fucking annoys me about this dickface. Not only is he a big fat racist, he is also a fucking hypocrite.

Irrum 03-06-2007 05:17 PM

As a die hard fan, its sad to see it fading away to garbage, but there are a few people who keep the hope alive for me, like Kanye, Common, and The Roots are some examples.

I am over the sex, money and rims talk.
