Yes, DSLR. Price doesn't matter. I spent $3500 on the HDV camera.

If you can wait until the end of the year, and price is no object, it's rumoured the successor to the 1DsII will be out then.

Do you really need a body built like a tank?

Are you referring to the Mark III?

Note the 's'

A 1DsII is a 16MP full frame camera. The 1DsIII (or perhaps a 1DsIIN) when it is released is rumoured to be 22MP.

The 1D and 1Ds series are similar cameras but with different specs.

Each series goes like this:

1D - 1D Mark II - 1D Mark II N - 1D Mark III

1Ds - 1Ds Mark II

The "N" was an incremental release which had a larger LCD and some extra firmware features.

As I asked above... do you really need a full sized body that is built like a tank? If not, buy a 5D.

lol...

If youre shooting net porn a 1Ds Mark II is a ludicrous overkill.

Almost shameful.

buy a fucking canon rebel digital, no one will know the difference when they look at your 100 photos in under 3 minutes.

As a 1DsII owner myself I would say the same, but try telling Petter Hegre that - he's shooting medium format digital, with a 6000px border on the longest side he'd be publishing 27 megapixel images in his member area!

The obvious choice is a long lens but if you're paying enough $ it may be worth going a little shorter and buying a camera with higher resolution instead. Some of the Canon telephoto lenses cost more than the flagship 1DsII body.

Don't forget you'll be dealing with the atmosphere as well, if it's warm then it is possible there will be drafts in between you and the subject which will distort the image. This was shot about 600m away:

Looks like the upsized output of a cheap video camera.

So what are you hoping to become, the next Mr. Papparazzi?
