Fuck off idiot. If someone leaves your site it's because they want to leave, not because they want a fucking popup. You suck if you have to rely on exits.

The Hun sucks. It is to modern tgps as a Model T Ford is to a Ferarri. I prefer atkmodels.com actually, but this does not alter the fact that exits suck and is the weekling's way of scraping the bottom of the barrel for traffic.

You're missing my point. I'm not disputing the profitability of exits. I'm just one of those internet purists who can see that exits are a pain in the ass to the internet users and are therefore bad. A business should be built by giving people a good browsing experience, not by serving them shit they don't want.

I'm man enough to make good money from the web without having to annoy people who visit my sites. I doubt a single person has ever regretted visiting a site I own.

The way to rebiuld this industry is to make sites surfer-friendly instead of fucking them over at ever opportunity which is the current status quo for a large amount of webmasters.

In an ideal world we wouldn't have to use pop-ups yada yada. I personally stay as far away from them as possible due to the nature of my sites. However they are essential to the PPS model, hell some sites even pay you for sales made on their exits.

I personally don't use pop ups either, but I also don't get mad when someone pops up something in my face, because it is in a tab and controlled

there is so much more things to worry about like zango, spyware, adaware, affiliate link code jacking, etc....to even think about worrying about pop ups anymore

exits only pop when they leave :D so it doesnt affect their browsing experience. if someone goes to paysite A and signs up, then he will never see an exit console. if they go to the paysite, go to the join page, and decide not to sign up because maybe they didnt see a girl that convinced them, they close the window - but an exit could keep the sale ;)

i think exits on paysites/freesites/others are a different matter. most paysite tours do not have daily updating content and lots of value for people to come back anyway, im not sure that many surfers bookmark a tour. but a freesite is something people would bookmark, and to get a popup on that would suck.

No matter how you try to justify it, you will have to accept the fact that pops are profit. Most people in this business are trying to make money and pops unfortunately sell. They are annoying, but a fact of business.

I hate popups as well and don't use them.
I understand they make money but I think that is some cases they also makes you lose the surfer if he was even thinking of revisiting your site.
also a lot of sites won't trade with you if you have popups.

surfers who hate popups (present posters included) have no understanding of he dynamics of the internet.
I'm sure you kids want everything for free and how dare someone pop a popup on you (christ, grow the fuck up, if clicking the X is a major problem for you, your life is going to such) but at some point, you need to understand that money=content. Whether it be mainstream or adult, money = content. force someone to use a .20 cpm banner instead of a 3.00cpm pop and the internet becomes a smaller less interesting place.

but please, keep on cheering the death of the popup, surfers.

http://www.reviewcash.com uses a proprietary script that beats the blockers - great exit traffic solution.

Before I was a program owner I was a surfer and to this day I instinctually avoid clicking anything in a popup window (including the X) for fear of descending into popup hell.

Plenty of others have touched the same "hot stove" as it were, which is why I've always thought it best to avoid using popups.

popups are still the most profitable adspace out there.
there's a reason for it that defies your conclusion.

In the past I agree it was a never ending loop of pop up hell. but now and days pops are limited for the most part.
