First of all go to see the real place that was the basis for Cheers and not the tourist deploy down the street. Then there is the freedom trail, etc. If you get out of the city to the outskirts check out Salem.

Fuck yeah.. my hometown

If you make it to Salem, stop by for some good food & drinks & music at Dodge St. Bar & Grille

If you like seafood, there's a few great places down at Pickering Wharf.

For coffee, check out Front St. Coffee which also doubles as an Art Gallery.

Then of course are all the witchy/occult tourist things..

I'm up north now on a damn island, but I'll be in Salem on Friday to hang with friends.

I spent a lot of time on Cape Anne on summer vacations as a kid.

slug bee-ahs around Quincy Market(good BAR type places), or near Fenway(good CLUB type places with good bars mixed in).
Good shopping and eating/ drinking on Newbury Street (near Prudential Bldg).
Make sure you take a Duck tour. All the locals do it...

If all else fails, I could show you my taint. That's must-see-Boston in and of itself.

Duck tours....you have to book those ahead. When I lived in Boston for a bit when I was at University we all made fun of them but then when I went back as a tourist and tried to take one they told me you had to book ahead so we never got on one.

North End for the best Italian food. Chinatown for the best Chinese food. Rowe's Wharf, Fanueil Hall and yeah, Museum of Science was cool when I was a kid but haven't been there in years, even when I lived around the corner from it.

If you're driving, you can drive 10 minutes and see the Kennedy Museum

Assuming you're NOT into that lol, suggestions in this thread are good except for the Combat Zone - it's been gone for a long time now.
