    Polls suggest whites are more likely than blacks to say America is ready for a black president, which may be part of why much of the African-American community is cool to the presidential candidacy of Sen. Barack Obama.

    "When white America has embraced a candidate -- as they have with Barack Obama -- there is a certain amount of distrust that goes with this among a number of African Americans," Wilson said

                  I remember seeing an interview recently when they asked him about how poorly he was polling in the black community. And he said he was proud that black people were sophisticated enough to not simply throw their support behind a candidate simply because he's black, and that he was going to need to win their support just like any other candidate would have to.
