          yeah its pretty fucking annoying you have to surf the web now adays with the sound off but to come to a webmaster forum and deal with shit you would encounter on myspace or some surfer driven site is absurd

                  Haven't noticed that one. Guess I don't want to, either.

                  That Python banner's been snapping me these days - locks my browser until it finally loads, regardless of the machine I'm on. The Duke of NY one also sucks, with the sound that won't off on mouseout.

                              As a top banner advertiser, it concerns me when other banners start driving people to turn off the ads.

                                              As a top banner advertiser, you should refrain from buying anymore advertising until they put a stop to those kind of banners. People complain about that kinda shit all the time but nobody seems to care. The only way to control it is with money. Stop spending it and that'll get somebodies attention.

                                                                      I like listening to my iTunes albums and radio stations when I surf. Those stupid banners really fuck up my surfing experience. Not that the powers to be would care about "my" surfing experience...as long as the money keeps rolling in why should they care?

It just sucks ass that the people who run this board have no interest in what we as a community like and dislike. People have been complaining about this for quite some time and nobody is listening nor do they care. It's all about money and ad-revenue and as long as it continues to roll in - nothing will change.

                                                                                          Like I said, it's your browser, if you don't want to see/hear the banners then install adblock and start blocking them, problem solved. The money hungry juggernaut that is GFY needn't rule your browsing experience. Change has to start somewhere, right? If everyone starts blocking the sound ads I suspect they'll go away. I haven't heard a peep out of GFY since "SHOULDA USED QUICK BUCK!!!!!!!"
