Can You Solve This Mystery?

http://www.world-mysteries.com/sar_1.htm

Okay, here's one for you big brain Brad's out there.

It's about a map, drawn up 300 years ago that shows
the outline of Antarctica.

Problem is how did someone 300 years ago know exactly
what the coastline of Antarctica looked like without the ice
on it when science says ice has been covering it for millions
of years?

Even naval analysis concluded as well as recent satellite
subsurface imaging that the map is accurate.

Any guesses?

i remember reading about this awhile ago.
cant remember the story the writer was trying to tell.

but i am guessing the map was compiled off of many older maps...there could have been some drawings of the coastline...discovered means it was put in history books is all

Prove the "WEBSITE" you got that from really has a document that old. If it's on the internet it MUST be true.

HAHAHAHA, just busting balls. The truth is, that document was drawn by my father as a joke.

Subject: Admiral Piri Reis Map
TO: Prof. Charles H. Hapgood
Keene College
Keene, New Hampshire

Dear Professor Hapgood,
Your request of evaluation of certain unusual features of the Piri Reis map of 1513 by this organization has been reviewed.
The claim that the lower part of the map portrays the Princess Martha Coast of Queen Maud Land, Antarctic, and the Palmer Peninsular, is reasonable. We find that this is the most logical and in all probability the correct interpretation of the map.
The geographical detail shown in the lower part of the map agrees very remarkably with the results of the seismic profile made across the top of the ice-cap by the Swedish-British Antarctic Expedition of 1949.
This indicates the coastline had been mapped before it was covered by the ice-cap.
The ice-cap in this region is now about a mile thick.
We have no idea how the data on this map can be reconciled with the supposed state of geographical knowledge in 1513.

Harold Z. Ohlmeyer Lt. Colonel, USAF Commander
Maybe I'm out of the ballpark here but wouldn't a Lt Colonel of the US Air Force have better grammar and vocabulary skills than what appears in the "response" ? In particular Your request of ought to be Your request for.. seems fishy to me.
