    Why is this? about cars

    Why do car manufacturers keep pumping out high horsepower cars? The speed limit in most places is 65 in the u.s. what is the purpose of having a 150+ horsepower car? you'll never use all that horse power on the highway (legally)

    I blame the car manufacturers for so many car accidents. The commercials intice people to drive fast and making cars that fast is just retarded.

    If you want to race they should have a seperate line of cars for racers and a line for average consumers. A 90 horse power car is plenty of power for you to drive up to 75 mph.

                  HP is great . . when I'm on the road I can get away from dip ship drivers real fast . . I can be doing the speed limit when I merge on the freeway, etc . . my car has 350 HP, weighs in at 3200 lbs and I love it . . . next car is gonna have about 500 hp and weigh in about the same. not only that, I get about 24-25 MPG on the hiway 'cause the car is always relaxing at 60-80 mph . . .

                      aside from the obvious, needing to pull out quickly, changing lanes quickly, getting yourself out of the way of an asshole driver, and just general seat feel.

                      there are these crazy things called race tracks. where you can take you car, and use every last bit of horsepower it produces.

                          If you car is a 4 banger with less than 150hp you going to have a hard time accelerating going up fast hills. My truck has 345hp, its nice to be able to accelerate and not sit there flooring the gas peddle trying to get going

                              I totally agree with the thread starter... if they really want us to have this cheezy speed limit, there should also be a limit on horsepower, and governors on the cars, as well as BAN all of these cheezy car commercials showing even the SUV's zooming around.

                              I was in Murc the other day, and had an undercover cop follow me for 15 minutes, then 5 cop cars and a helicopter ended up tailing me at the end. I was going about 95mph in a Murcielago. Wow... such a 'big deal' lol. But it is to them. So I got buttfucked... no more like fisted up the ass, with a little twisting inside.

                                                  what's crazy is that your car probably handles better at 95 Mph then the Ford Explorer doing 65 Mph you most likely past and the cop pasted to pull you over. They should worry more about the SUV doing 10mph over the speed limit then the Murcielago going 30 over .. sucks but your a target in that car. i got a ticket this week also but it was 50 in a 35 ...lol and i was in my wifes Honda Pilot .. Cop was full of shit because i was on a mountain and was only doing about 40 .. I saw him coming at me and then he pulled a U turn. He said he got me on Radar ... on a hill .. coming at me .. in a turn ... I'm sure it had nothing to do with my out of state plates .. ( i was in Virginia skiing last week)

                                                                              You don't need a ton of horse power to accelarate real quick you need torque and that's the transmission. If you have a transmission that is geared right u can bust out onto the highway or in front of someone.

                                                                              I drove a 95 horsepower cavalier as my first car when i was 17 i bolted onto the highway no problem it was a 4 banger.
