When you look at it, it's still a " Mitsubishi " and nothing

I know..I have one. People want to race me all the time, even
a brand new porcshe was no match.

A few more $? The asking price for the 98 3000GT SL is $22,000. Asking price for a new corvette coupe - $42,000. Besides, Corvette is american-made so it'll brake down more often. Also, they are more common than 3000GT's.

Corvette's are very rare in the UK - first time I saw one, my jaw near hit the floor. There is one dealer in the whole country, and they turned me down for a test drive because 25 is the minimum age. Guess they don't want my money then... next! :1orglaugh

If you want more info on 3si cars check out www.3si.org. Get on the message board and talk to people who really know about these cars. I have had my 91 Stealth R/T (same as a 3000GT SL) for almost two years now and it has been good and bad. These cars are pretty heavy but pack a lot of power under the hood for the price. SL models are 222hp and the VR-4 are 300hp up until about 98 or so when they upped them to 350hp. If you are really serious about getting one of these cars and are looking to keep it for a while I would say spend the extra cash and get the VR-4 or Stealth TT. You can do tons more mods and your car will haul ass.

This car looks wicked. At 2,200 lbs it is very light - I bet it moves when it needs to. Answer me this: what the hell is it?! :)

I couldn't find any VR4's in the tri-state area. Also, I have a budget and want to pay in monthly installments -- private sellers don't do that :)

Do you really like your Stealth? The spoiler on it is the dumbest look thing.

I owned a 93 Supra regular until I sold it in 98 to pay for college. V6 3L all stock. Handled like a muther fucker for $12,000. I've test driven $85,000 cars that handled worse. I'm a real supra fan. Go for an old Supra if ya can and really rice that sucka out.

I'm considering actually getting that camaro SS - anyone own a 2002? I want a review

rampage76 08-06-2002 05:45 PM

I had a 3000GT a few years ago, it was a 1995. Horrible experience with the shitty quality that mitsubishi puts out. I say don't ever buy a mitsubishi. The transmission and drivetrain are basic wear-and-tear parts on those cars. You are bound to have problems and find your ass in a rental every other week. The car is very heavy, but does take turns ok. However, what the car gained in suspension it lost in power. They are SLOW as shit, even the SL's.

I sold my 3000gt to one of those carmax places and bought a new 2000 camaro ss. I'm telling you from experience, just go GM! Get a vette or something american. The rear ends aren't made all that great, and naturally the condition of the car completely depends on how you drive it. I used to drive the hell out of my car, but I just changed the rear-differential last week @ 32000 miles. Up till now, there have been no major issues except times I wrecked (at fault and not). The maintenence isn't too bad and the warranty is pretty solid.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me. I'm all about the cars/girls/alcohol

American cars brake down faster than Mariah Carey.

rampage76 08-06-2002 05:54 PM

That's real cliche. I owned a 3000GT, Lexus ES, and 2000 camaro ss. The 3000GT never stopped having problems since the cars are made like shit, the lexus nearly blew up becuase of all the oil leaks that the engine would produce weekly. And the camaro is sitting in front of my house right now.

If american cars break down all the time, I havn't seen it.

Well infact I hate the stupid taco spoiiler. That is why I took it off and filled in the holes. I also painted the roof to match the color of my car (red) and the front light casings. Looks much better now. All these guys saying they are slow don't know what they are talking about. Sure you can buy a Vette and have it kill a 3SI car but can you buy a new Vette for under 10K, I don't think so. And as far as breaking down, well if you take care of your car nothing will go wrong. A car is like a famliy member, and you have to treat it that way. Just get your oil changed every 3k miles and get all your services done and you will have no problems.

New economy Asian cars are. Ever hear of the Skyline or the NSX? Real beauties.

And come January, there is word that Mitsubishi is going to release the Lancer Evolution here in the states. It's a fast car -- kind of boring looking, but will definetly bring some long-awaited competition to the WRX Impreza and some of the other fast sub $30000 cars.

Toyota Supra is my fav car.
They are fast to begin with, and one of the best cars (if not #1) to supe-up.

Don't forget the Mustang - 'a poor mans sport car' - lol. They are actually very fast for their price range.
