Vista Users ---------entre' Por Favor

Should I upgrade my Windows XP yet?

I want to get the Vista Ultimate, Its on sale here. It looks trick, but I don't wanna get it if its gonna fuck up my brand new laptop.

I like all the new features and shit, but I don't know if its bugged out yet. I haven't seen that many issues with it, except the Ipod thing.

Any input if you are running it?

it's neat, but not worth the money...
no big bugs in the time I've been running it... 98% of my software works, and I'm using a 64bit version....

all the prompting gets annoying..

I had issues with my install all over the place. Just getting over it now and many of my built in peripherals needed new drivers. (Which were extremely hard to find on the Acer support site, ended up finding the acer ftp server from a chat board!)
But after all is said and done it's pretty sweet. If you only have one machine for work though I'd be a bit sketchy, cause it's possible it may take an entire day to get everything working properly. It seems to start up way faster than my XP, and I swear I'm looking at a MAC. From the new explorer windows, to the fonts, everything. Mac has Aqua, now windows has Aero! Original! Still sweet as hell and I like the speech recognition!

Yes, you should... but only in case if you don't care about these issues:
  • Disabling of Functionality
  • Indirect Disabling of Functionality
  • Decreased Playback Quality
  • Elimination of Open-source Hardware Support
  • Elimination of Unified Drivers
  • Denial-of-Service via Driver/Device Revocation
  • Decreased System Reliability
  • Increased Hardware Costs
  • Increased Cost due to Requirement to License Unnecessary Third-party IP
  • Unnecessary CPU Resource Consumption
  • Unnecessary Device Resource Consumption

I wanted to give it a try but didn't want to risk losing anything on my main computer.

So I bought a new computer with Vista on it and LOVE IT.

Then, I used Laplink's PCmover to move everything from my old computer to my new computer.

Everything works great. A couple minor annoyances, like Quickbooks couldn't find the license info, just needed to call them.

The only other minor annoyance was that I needed to re-enter my license key or reg key for a couple of programs.

Finally, it moved outlook over with all my data and all my accounts already set up. The only thing it didn't move were the passwords for each account, I just needed to re-add them.

Other than that, so far smooth and silk and I'm enjoying windows Vista. I will keep my old computer untouched for a little while just in case something does go wrong with the new one, but I figure in a month or so I will format the old computer and install Vista on that.

It doesn't prompt that often, that commercial is misleading. The prompting can be disabled.

I'm not a Vista user yet, I've decided to wait at least an year before changing so that all bugs are fixed and such.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it... there is really nothing new in vista that makes it worth upgrading.. yea, the new interface is kinda cool, but it doesn't really increase your productivity in anyway...

Dont do it! Iam back to XP after 3 days with Vista. Its not compatible to an IPOD for example. Also you need to change permissions for every single action. Try to copy/paste files into a target folder took ages for me course i had to edit the permissions of the folders all the time.
Vista looks pretty slick but is such an unfinished OS! Iam back to XP and more then happy with it.
If your down for the neat design then get your XP skinned
