Dude,
You can't run ANY windows software on OSX natively. With the new Intel Mac, you STILL have to install Windows (either dual boot or virtual machine) if you want to run windows programs.

I thought the idea was to get away from MS.

Tell us what software you need to run.
Chances are excellent its available as a Mac version.
There are many of us who run our business on a Mac just fine without the need for any MS software.

Not really. I think Crossover lets you do it without installing a full version of Windows. There's Parallels which is what most seem to be recommending, and Boot Camp.

No rebooting, no switching to a virtual machine, and no Windows Operating System license required; CrossOver is a complete replacement for your Windows OS as far as your Windows software is concerned.

Ah... the old I hate MS so maybe I should go mac, cause it will run ,my MS stuff now line of thought...

I was in the same boat. I just wanted something that WORKED. Didn't crash or blue screen and if an app did fly south I didn't want it to take everything down with it and loose any other work I might be doing at that time.

I made the plunge to Mac thinking that I would dual boot to MS IF I needed to run the "important" programs... WOW was I looking at it the wrong way. That was a 6 months ago or something like that.. and guess what? I still have not installed MS crap on my mac and Im more productive that I have been in years. This machine rocks. You do NOT need MS crap on it, there is a solution that at least in my researching always seems to be better on the mac. Even Adobe people can stop whining as the Beta for CS3 for the mac is now out and the New Premier is also being done for the mac NATIVE. (Word on both is they should be avail sometime this spring/summer. Truthfully, I'm likeing FinalCut Pro better. Do a MAC search on this forum, there are a lot of good threads here with information on programs/solutions for the mac.

Did I mention your not bugged every other click asking you if you want to allow something to happen, That if a app does burn, it ONLY effect that app. The rest of the OS is totally fine and everything else keeps right on running, that there is a FULL blown version of Unix right under the pretty interface so you can run things like MAMP (A full blown webserver, mysql, php yada yada) direclty on your mac for testing...and let me tell you installing its a pain... you need to drag a folder over to the apps folder then... well there is no then, thats it your finished and it works. Want to delete some program? you drag that program from your apps to the garbage... its gone, and all it little config files gone. You want to use hardware, use it, it just works... no DLL conflicts no headaches.

Im so impressed with this machine that you would have to pry it from my cold dead fingers at this point....

Nice to see things are going well for ya.
As I recall you started a thread on it a while back.

It may take a little getting used to but after a week or so you should be hooked.
Welcome to the Mac world.

Something from Windows I'm used to is the Windows + L ( Lock ) button. Is this available for the Mac? I could logout, but that acts differently by closing all open programs.

OSX is now a dream, and the MacBook Pro is the best Mac I have ever owned. You can be downloading a torrent, ripping it into iqsuint, and listening to music, surfing, writing hate mail to someone, and editing in FCP, and as long as you put in 2GB of RAM, the machine NEVER crashes. Ever.

The best $2k I ever spent.
